I know this is an extremely subjective question, and not one that anyone should use to base their own investing strategies on, however I am curious to take a poll.

What percentage gain are you hoping for? What btc price would make you decide it was time to sell everything? Or are you purely basing your strategy on a time horizon, with no price speculation at all.

For me, my portfolio is close to 1/3 btc, 1/3 large caps and 1/3 small caps. Personally I never plan to sell the btc but hope to sell 100% of the alts in the next year or two.

Of course all of this is predicated on us getting a full on bull run but I would be over the moon if I got a 10x from here. That being said I am of the opinion that we will get a shorter, more accelerated cycle and will be dcaing out starting at the end of next year no matter what.

Interested to hear the opinions of the community and good luck to you all.

I admit that the dip shocked me at first when I woke up in the morning and casually checking the crypto charts on Coingecko. This -7.7% drop scared me.

1 week ago I was telling myself that I hoped for BTC to drop a bit from $44k, so that I can go buy some.

Now it is the time, BTC dropped to $41K....did I buy?

Nope! I am too scared now, because I expect it to drop even further.

"The correction isn't over yet.", "The Santa rally is over now.", "Tax loss harvest time is starting right now, people are selling!", "I will buy later at better prices".

All those thoughts above, yes, they are mine. Thoughts that prevent me from buying. The exact same thoughts that prevented me from buying crypto after the FTX crash (the bottom of this crypto cycle).

Now I'm sitting since then on a pile of cash (to all nigerian princes or "hot" women to DM me: no, I am not a wealthy woman!). Instead of having made profits, I made nothing. Still holding the bag since mid 2021.

The lesson I learnt: DCA and don't care about fluctuations of this ~~rollercoaster~~ crypto market.

XRP, ORDI, ETH, BITCOIN literally every coin dropped all at the same time…. Why?

I tried to google the answer and I found many different answers from

“blackrock taxed people 4%” (huh how is that possible)

“The whales did it” (where was this planned then for them to do it ??)

“Someone sold lots of bitcoin” (ok but why would that effect all other coins too?)

hardly anyone I found was talking about this. Like it’s like Cryptopocolapse and hardly anyone is talking about it. It’s not like they dipped down slowly it was like literally MAD drop.

Sorry if I sound like a noob… I literally have no clue where to turn.

Alright. With scams again on the rise, I'm curious about Ledger safety. Ive been lurking here for a while and have read tons of scam and hack posts. From what I can gather, most people are hacked through:

  1. Phishing emails
  2. Advanced Onchain Activity
  3. Hotwallet Hacks
  4. Online Password/Seed Storage
  5. Some type of malicious software installed through whisking.

So like most, I am trying to avoid risky activity. The majority of my bags are stored on a Ledger. I have exercised a high amount of paranoia with it.

  • seed phrases are physically stored in 2 places. No where else. (No web cams are active in my house unless plugged in/uncovered) Never typed into a computer
  • I only send/recieve to my Ledger. I do not connect any apps to it directly. No external app, aside from Ledger Live, has connected to my Ledger. I do not stake from it either. -Any on chain trading is done with Exchange based wallets, or hot wallets. -Im a novice crypto user. I dont get too crazy but I do make sure I segregate all my data and wallets. I dont have any seed phrases stored online.

How at risk am I actually? Real world scenario?

Avax or Ada? (zerobytes.monster)

They both have similar market cap and they both have to go 5 to 6 times reach their ATH. Right now games are thriving on Avax and Cardano has its defi space growing with Hydra coming in the future. I sold all my Ada when it was around 30c or so when Kraken stopped staking rewards (can anyone thrive in the US?) and never bought back. I have another bag stuck in Celsius. With Ada I have always been a bit unlucky. Either I breakeven or sell too early or buy high (2017). Thoughts other than do your own DD?

A scammer gained access to two of my wallets and within 5 minutes, managed to drain about $20K worth of coins (at the time).

I know I'm at fault here, but I'm trying to learn from this. I'm aware I can kiss these coins goodbye.

What baffles me is how they accessed not one, but two of my different seed phrases.

Some of my suspicions:

  1. The seed phrases were stored in 1Password (I know, stupid, it's now fixed). However, there were other seeds in there for wallets containing about $5K, which the scammer didn't touch. Why would they leave those?
  2. 10 days earlier, I used portalbridge.com to bridge ETH to SOL. But I confirmed it was legit, and only connected one of the compromised wallets.
  3. Hours before the hack, I used this guide to filter some Google Shopping search results using uBlock Origin, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary.
  4. I had some apps cracked by m0nkrus, but they are considered legit as far as community trust goes. Also, these were installed quite some time ago.

Here's a breakdown of the transactions that occurred during the scam:

Wallet 1a (ETH): 0xdcD7F0CC4B01d02Ab3963270F0Dd242ee2108d6C

  • 2.92 ETH stolen and transferred to 0xAfFD49F769F2Afc92b98C0BcAE86FBFb567f8F6D, then moved to FixedFloat (0x4E5B2e1dc63F6b91cb6Cd759936495434C7e972F).
  • 1,456.38 AGRS and 0.019 ETH stolen and transferred to 0x9a49DD07481B3B6e6452F7970CfE9Bfb12F234D6, where they currently remain.

Wallet 1b (BNB): 0xdcD7F0CC4B01d02Ab3963270F0Dd242ee2108d6C

124,583.39 SAITO and 55.44 XCAD swapped for 4.02 BNB via 0x1a1ec25DC08e98e5E93F1104B5e5cdD298707d31, then 4.49 BNB transferred to 0x9a49DD07481B3B6e6452F7970CfE9Bfb12F234D6.

Wallet 2 (BNB): 0x805b2c2012f5Ea9607f4F2B8F8BeAdD126D10c7b

52,665.91 SAITO swapped for 1.59 BNB, which was then transferred to 0x9a49DD07481B3B6e6452F7970CfE9Bfb12F234D6.

The BNB from Wallet 1b and Wallet 2 was consolidated in 0x9a49DD07481B3B6e6452F7970CfE9Bfb12F234D6, and 6 BNB were moved to 0x6297EC9F725919A5FD2ca95240f59e09585871dA, before being transferred to a FixedFloat hot wallet (0x4727250679294802377dD6cA6541B8E459077c9).

The address 0x1a1ec25DC08e98e5E93F1104B5e5cdD298707d31 appears to be a contract linked to ongoing scams, judging from the comments posted on it, but I wasn't able to infer anything from these.

I've also filed a police report and reached out to FixedFloat. They've responded that they can investigate the scammer's server and order logs, potentially retrieving the IP address and other identifying details.

Any help would be appreciated!
