Been getting in the mood for an Armored Core 4 run and there is zero chance I ever dig my PS3 out of the closet ever again. Also more stable framerates would be nice.

So, these days, which emulated console (and emulator) is "best" for this generation? My assumption is 360 because of the CBE but the PS3 was a REAL sicko console and has relatively little backwards compatibility, so that might have been a bigger motivator for the development community.

Thanks

Hi, I have retroarch on various devices (Linux & android) and want to sync both saves and gaming history across devices.

Currently, I managed to sync saves via Syncthing. History syncing seems more tricky.

Do you have any experience with this? TIA

So, I want to get cfw for my sp I currently have stock and a spare card with a fresh knulli install. I like stock but postmaster is being kinda an issue

These are my requirements:

Support for postmaster stuff

Music player that isn't a ROM or postmaster thing

Pico8 would be nice too

So, I want to put some PC games on my ambernic sp. Found this thing called Pokémon crystalleague on postmaster. For some reason wen I add the files it just doesn't run. When I open it just closes and doesn't play.

Any ideas on what to do?

I find that launching certain games seems to be hit or miss as far as the BIOS is concerned, even though I think I have the right files. Is there a method that confirms you have the correct BIOS prior to launching a title?

Anyone got xenia working on linux? If so what strategy did you use?

I can get the og version of xenia "working" with bottles, but it runs really poorly. Xenia canary does not work (just hangs with black screen and grey menu options for a couple of secs before crashing).

There is a mod for the DSi/3DS called "Twilight Menu" and it allows DS games to use the DSi's better clock speeds. Given that overclocking is a common feature for emulators, I was wondering if there were any DS emulators with this feature. I have seen discussions on other websites about this topic and how it would be possible but none of the emulators are listed as having an overclocking feature. All of the documentation and discussions about this seem to be at least a few years old and I know a lot can happen in a few years.

So, I've been wondering. On the average desktop PC, what systems can be emulated. Without power being a concern. What aew the other limiting factors?

Specifically the emulation part. I wonder could this be used to take down a future emulator emulating the game. I know Nintendo claimed DMCA for the yuzu stuff. Not sure about EULA if there would be grounds to do so. Either way I'm sure we can expect more of this crap as time goes on.

like the rest of you I never read and ignore them , but on a whim I skimmed this one and this stood out.

Over two decades ago, a small company by the name of Bleem! appeared and offered a unique product in the gaming market, the ability to play PlayStation games outside of the original hardware, in what would be popularly known as "emulation" worldwide, be it in Windows PCs at the time (Windows 95...

Does anyone know how to hide the game regions, revisions, disc numbers, etc. through the menu settings? I cannot find a setting for it and prefer not to rename all my ROMs and box art.

Edit: I still don't know if there is a way within the menu to accomplish this like can be done in standard RetroArch.

However, here is how I accomplished it. I already had my box art so I don't know if that has to be gotten first. Put the microSD card in your computer, go to the folder that holds the ROMS for each particular system you have games in, open the .XML file in a text editor, edit the name of each game in the category to what you want it to say, save the file and that's it. Your box art will not need editing

Looking for my first handheld (lemmy.cronyakatsuki.xyz)

Hello, I wan't to get my first handheld for playing retro games.

I'm mostly looking for a handheld that can handle 3rd generation consoles (nes/sega ms), 4th generation consoles ( pc engine/sega genesis/snes ) and handheld's like gb/gbc/gba.

In general no need for 3d consoles like ps/n64/sega saturn ( would be a nice bonus if it could, but I'm mostly only interested in 2d consoles for now ).

Something with looks of a gameboy advanced would be nice in my opinion.

Would like it to be able to be modded with diff rom's/customizable software and ability to be able add my own rom sets.

Price isn't an issue and am looking for the most premium possible experience with 2d consoles (I would most likelly mostly be playing gba games ).

Some homebrew games are ports of some legit original games, some are even open source ports like Hex-a-hop, which has been ported to the 3DS.

Companies like Nintendo just can't stand the idea of their systems being unlocked due to the new ability to pirate their games. It doesn't even matter if you have pirated, to them, they'l fight to push laws against modding consoles as well.

Bad on their part.

From what I can see in RA forum posts people have brought it up on numerous occasions but it gets shot down as being a way people could cheat and RA being designed with online play in mind.

Have any efforts actually been made to enable offline achievements? It would be nice to have for handheld emulators that do not have built in WiFi. Even if it was something that was synced locally and you couldn't upload it to RA's website I'd be interested.

Hell I'd even be curious to try out a self hosted solutuon.

With MinUI I save the game how the game intends me to, then turn off my device, play another time and the game starts from the opening sequences, I select my save and start playing. Just like how an old GBA would work.

With OnionOS, I can save anytime and after starting a new session it picks up like if I had paused the game and then just started playing again. I have to use the RetroArch menu to make the game boot through the opening sequences and then the proper game saving won't resume as intended.

I always thought this was strange of OnionOS and it seems like other custom OS do the same thing. It takes away from the classic way an old game is played when I can save anytime and it removes the nostalgia of booting up a GBA or whatever everytime I want to play.

Anyways, does anyone know how ArkOS handles saves? I'd like to purchase a device that supports it, but only if it can behave like MinUI.
