As the title says.

What are the modpacks that you consider to be 'most ambitious'? Bonus points for lesser known projects.

In terms of vastness of the pack, amount of content, expansive recipes, or unique gameplay loops, or whatever criterion you think can make something note-worthy :)

Personally I think there's a few that are note worthy.

Obviously, GTNH. Y'all know it. The sheer vastness of it is incredible.

Technological Journey recipes are incredible, props! Easily the biggest automations out there.

TerraFirma Rescue for pure degenerate grind. Not my style, but I respect the hussle.

RLcraft for pure fuck you content. The extent of the reactions this pack generates is impressive, and tbh I kinda respect it.

I've been looking for a good one, but all the ones I've seen just make it too easy. I want something that does the bare MINIMUM to make all the mods in it theoretically beatable- I don't like how most of them give you a "cobble generator block", or "[insert resource here] trees", or how things like Stoneblock ruin the whole "having only stone" thing by just giving you free saplings right off the bat.

Again, one that does the minimum*.* If the mods are theoretically accessible and automatable (eventually giving you Zinc in Create for Brass, for instance) then that is enough. No more. No extras.

It doesn't feel like a challenge if it doesn't limit your access to resources, if it's just a normal automation modpack that happens to be set underground then that's not "Stoneblock", that's just Minecraft without the sky.

so you know those official minecraft novels that come out every now and then? I’m thinking of writing a novel on modded minecraft similar to ‘the island’ but like with mods. if I do publish this with full credit to the mod devs will it count as copyright? I don’t plan to make any money off of this and it’s more of a side project for fun. I plan on writing about Create, advent of ascension, Ice and Fire, draconic evo, and many more mods but I REALLY don’t want to get sued.

Original Title: Dusty Hell BETA , now availiable on CF. What started as possible a remake took a turn of its own. This my own take on "Hot Desert Survival". Those familiar with the genre of packs will feel right at home. Loads of quests, a bit of Exploration, and Tons of lines of Crafttweaker!!!

For Forge or Fabric. In my humble opinion:

-Create: Beautiful aestethics and many creative options.

-The Betweenlands: Complex and Immersive dimension mod. Feels like another game.

-Thaumcraft: Especially Thaumcraft 4. Super complete mod with lots of mechanics. Ahead of its time.

For those who don't know, it's a mod that lets you run fabric mods on forge. This is groundbreaking, it's huge, it's something that just last year was unthinkable and it opens up a lot of potential for the future, even just the near future.

That said, while I want to run the mod right now even just on principle of having such an insane mod for the modern day, it seems like there's not much from fabric that doesn't have a forge version that I can actually fit in my current modpack, which is a shame.

What mods are currently on 1.20.1 fabric that aren't on forge? What are the best things to import from fabric over to forge right now?

Title essentially explains what I'm asking, I've started a little bit with Forge, but I'm not comfortable with it yet. I would consider myself slightly knowledgeable about Forge, but not enough to make a mod with it. I've heard a bit about NeoForge, and how it's easier and better to work with, but should I switch to learning it or stick with Forge?

Cheers!

I'm just curious. I feel like every other week I'm seeing something that hasn't been ported to newer versions in years. Even mods from as far back as 1.12 seem to be making the jump. Did 1.20 add anything that made it easier to update or is there a push to modernize older mods, or is it just a coincidence everyone is updating around the same time?

What mods do you try to add to every modpack you play?

I'm interested in learning about some great modded creators who consistently make content that people may not have heard of. Like the people you wouldn't immediately find by looking up "GTNH let's play" on YouTube and they're one of the first people to pop up.
