I've tried a few apps like Tesseract and abOCR but none of them have that feature.

Hi, did anyone manage to offline USB sideload this opensource app in a phone ?

If yes, how please ? It seems there's the .apk + a second app and a music database, but I can't find the latter two...

(PS : if github throws you error 404 after opening the link, just refresh, microsoft is weird with me sometimes)

I've been a FOSS enthusiast for a while now, and I've come across a few interesting projects ideas (that I'd like to work on if I were a developer). I understand that learning programming requires a lot of effort, dedication, and time, and I'm fine with that, but I still need a viable guide, someone I can ask questions to, or some sort of group I can be a part of as a beginner.

I work in the field of linguistics, so Android development wouldn't be source of income for me. The problem is, I don't even know where to start.

I have tried:

  1. VLC
  2. mpv-android
  3. Just (Video) Player

The third one I tried considering it's based on ExoPlayer like like NewPipe's player. NewPipe has the double tap while in Pip but can't play offline content.

I see and hear it listed as one of the supported apps, however my screenshots are still blocked. so I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong or if it does not work with LSPatch?

Does anyone have experience of using the Insular app on a Samsung phone (whilst not signed into a Samsung account)? Is it usable? For background I’m using an S20 Plus with Android 13.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I really have nothing wrong to say about Conversations, I'd just like if it had a modern UI.

Given the large amount of forks it has, does anyone know any fork of it or entirely different xmpp clients with a more modern interface? Ideally Material You but I'd look at anything different just out of curiosity.

I was wondering what website catalogs I can go to and download audiobooks that are compatible with the Voice Audiobook Player from F-Droid, if anyone could give some advice it would be much appreciated.

Has Feeder been taken over by a new team or did the dev change branding? Apparently its made by NoNonsenseApps and not SpaceCowboy. Im confused. There has been no announcement from what I can tell.

Also I got an update a little while ago that added bugs. Cant find an issues page to report on gitlab or github so I commented on a gitlab commit and now the gitlab page has been archived. But theres new releases on github. However when trying to install these updates with AppManager, it fails with a conflict message.

Are there any?

I've been using AIMP for a long time, and it is perfect, except for the part where the source code can't be verified because it is closed-source.

All the players I tried so far do not have a function to import a folder into a playlist. I don't need albums or artists or anything else, just this function.

Thank you for suggestions.

I am a fulltime Android phone user, who uses Win10 at work. I also dabble with Linux and ChromeOS. I would like to know the most popular cross-platform apps that you guys use for productivity. I am looking for polished, easy to use apps. Specifically, I'm interested to find the most popular email client, calendar, office suite, cloud storage, note taking, and other productivity apps.

I use TrackerControl for specific apps and turn it off for the rest of the day, but it keeps running and I personally hate apps that run in the background when I'm not using it. Is there a way to disable this?

I know this may sound counterintuitive, but I'd like to install a foss minimal launcher that supports widgets, so I could have my screen time widget always on my homescreen. Unfortunately, all the launchers I've tried (mlauncher, unlauncher and lunar launcher) do not support widgets.

Today I downloaded the Midori browser to see what it was currently like. Previously, Midori was based on the Fulguris browser, but the latest version migrated to the DuckDuckGo browser. However, I noticed that they didn't add anything, just changed the name and icons. They changed the links from DDG projects to their own projects. Not even the tutorial has been changed. I wanted to know if it is considered OK to do this or is it something to be wary of?

(Midori is used by me only as an example)
