Looking for something simple, lightweight, without ads, something like Zathura. Can't believe how hard it is to find one on Play Store.

Apple banned this feature in China,

AirDrop has a feature that allows you tell all device around you (alternatively only broadcast it to your contacts or previously connected) that you are welling to share something and anyone around can receive the data you want.

No need to talk or share codes or scan QR.

Currently using Florisboard but I use emojis too much for there to not be a search emoji function. 🥹 Tried anysoft and simple keyboard, but there's no emoji search too.

Hello, i manage to install this file "arm64_ChromePublic.apk" from a research i did here. My question is: Is the app ready to use or are there any more steps to follow to get started.

hi, I'm using kiss launcher and I like it very much, but with clock, weather, and calendar widgets the home screen is already filled.

I'm trying to use combined widgets and save space, but it would be nice to have a "scrollable home" with more widgets below (or above)... Like windows phone had back in the days. This would be useful especially because some widgets have "forced" margins and waste screen space... Any opinions on this?

Im looking for something like "samsung voice input" or "google voice typing", which is a dedicated voice transcriber, that you can use with something like duckduckgo to search

Reason I ask this, is because Im trying to create something like google assistant, where It will open the duckduckgo app and automatically activate your voice typing app

konele would be perfect for this, since it launches as voice typing when you activate it [rather than having to manually click the voice icon button, like you have to do in gboard & other keyboard apps that include voice typing] but Its not working for me

On my Samsung phone, I use Samsung Good Luck + One Hand Operation+ apps to quickly perform actions, e.g:

  • Swipe diagonally up from left edge of screen to drop down and expand notification
  • Swipe right from left edge of screen to show menu of list of apps with an X on each to quickly close selected ones
  • Same action as above but if held for a second or two, the current app is killed

etc.

As a bonus, such gestures can be customized to perform different depending on whether you swiped from upper half of screen to lower half, so you're not really restricted by amount of gestures to perform different actions.

Are there good open-source alternatives for this? I'm actually surprised such is a feature is available from Samsung--usually phone manufacturers avoid more advanced usage and prefer dumbing down as much as possible for their users. It works as well as described.

I'm not sure if there's a proper term for it, but I'm looking for a feature of the old Nova Launcher app where it restores the layout of all the apps on the screens, e.g. positioning, folders, names, etc. This makes it possible to easily get to a familiar environment to use the phone.

  • This was incredibly useful for me when my parent "accidentally" reset her phone and spent over an hour trying to find apps and move them to where they are easy to find.
  • More importantly, I'm someone who likes to root my phone for more control as well as debloat all the default apps on my Samsung S10 phone (I never use any of these apps and prefer open-source alternatives where possible). However, not being able to restore the apps to where they along belong deterred me from tinkering a little because it would be very time consuming to restore things if shit hits the fan.

I believe Google/Samsung has their own backup/restore services but I never looked into these as I don't want to store such data on their servers or rely on proprietary apps that might no longer be maintained as the phone gets old (meaning migrating such data to a new device might not be possible).

Ideally such open-source app also backs up and restores app settings, though I'm not sure whether such a feature is reliable in practice so I make it a habit of exporting the settings of each app manually periodically for backup.

Any suggestions is much appreciated. To be clear, I'm not talking about backing up personal data on the phone--I already use Syncthing for that and it works as well as you can hope for.

Just curious if anyone happens to know if Obtainium either does automatically or if it is capable of automatically filtering search results to only show apps if they are installable on Android or do I just need to keep putting the word 'Android' in my search terms? Or if you have a better method of getting the same result I am looking for I'd appreciate the knowledge....

Currently just adding 'Android' to my search terms works decent but I'm what they call lazy and by God if I don't need to hit 8 extra buttons every time I search, I'll take it! Really don't want to pull a thumb muscle again, Doc said I might never type again if it happens again.....🤷🏻

Thanks y'all ✌🏻

Which installer is good for just using as a play store replacement?

EDIT: Maybe a better question is what each one actually does. I want the best one for a user with a completely de googled phone that can get games and whatnot from the store.

I don't know how to code, otherwise I'd do it myself.

I'm just sad that nobody else has tried to pick it up.

A couple of weeks ago NewPipe started being unable to load videos. It happens on two different smartphones (latest Android), but no update is available yet. Perhaps is only my problem?

I have built an app on flutter that helps you download and read books from Anna's Archive. I would love to know your thoughts on this one.

I am trying to build an offline music library cause I am sick and tired of relying on internet. That being said, is there a way to automatically transfer music from my pc to my phone without any user interaction?

Features that Logi Options+ app has:

  1. Key mapping for mouse buttons and keyboard keys.
  2. Adjust device lighting.
  3. Assign gestures to mouse buttons.
  4. Seamlessly transfer text, images and files between multiple computers and operating systems.
  5. Assign key binds.
  6. Assign individual profiles for individual apps.
  7. Adjust mouse pointer speed, scrolling speed, scrolling direction, and other characteristics.
  8. Show battery level notifications, paired devices and webcam preview.

I am primarily interested in the features indicated by italicized text. However, if the suggested software offers additional functionalities, I am open to exploring them as well.
