A number of apps that I found interesting just won't work on my phone since it is not rooted. I've heard of the app Shizuku, which allows you to use some specific apps without rooting the phone, however it doesn't work with all of the apps I need.

I was wondering what is the safest way to root an Android device? I have several concerns, the primary ones being phone warranty and overall security.

I've never rooted a phone before, so I'm nervous because I couldn't find many detailed instructions. I'm a Linux user, and virtually all of the videos I've found show how to do it on Windows.

Also, is there a fast / easy way to root / unroot your phone and would unrooting give me my warranty back?

I don't know if it's just me, but when I try to play some songs from Innertune, the sound is more muffled (it doesn't happen for every song, just some of them). However, when I try to play the same song from ViMusic, Harmony, or even Spotube, the sound is fine. I've also set the audio quality to high, the equalizer off and the audio normalization off, but nothing changes. I don't know why this happens, since everything should be extracted from YouTube Music, and all four apps should have the exact same sound quality.

As an example, I played the song 'Torn' by Neck Deep, and the guitar you can hear at 11 seconds from Innertune sounds significantly more muffled than the same sound of the song coming from ViMusic/Harmony/Spotube.

Have you noticed this too?

I'd love to know currently on my phone I have:

Discord (keep in contact with people from uni for work)

Snapchat (despite me thinking the app is aimed for a bunch of 12 year olds I reluctantly use it because its how I message a lot of my friends, note I'm 21 so please blame the people in my year not me)

Teams (again keep in contact with people from uni for work)

Wetherspoons (for people who don't know wetherspoons is a chain of pubs in the uk. I use the app enough because simply I don't like talking to people. I also don't want to be judged for ordering a numerous amount of rum and cokes on a night out)

There's my non foss apps that I might/might not remove from my phone. But overall I'm quite happy with my privacy journey.

Hi, I have a problem with Librera and epubs (and mobi too).

When I open epubs they always have line spaces where they shouldn't be. Here's an example below.

This first image is from another ebook reader. There isn't a line space between the words deliverance and from -

Supreader rendering, with no space in the middle of the paragraph

Now this is how the same book looks in Librera (with the funny line spacing) -

I'm not a major YouTube user, but there are about 10 YouTube channels that I enjoy watching.

The problem is that I don't have a functioning Google account, so I can't subscribe to the channels, which means they never appear on my start page, and scrolling through bookmarks or manually typing out names gives me a headache. For months now when I finish a sentence with a Full Stop/period, the last word gets underlined as if it has incorrect spelling! This is highly annoying as you have to double take to check what you have typed is correct all the time! Android keyboard is bad enough as it is without this added behaviour! i.e touch accuracy and always defaulting to American English - despite settings! (Don't @ me that full stood are racist now) Keyboard = Openboard How do I change this inane behaviour?
