I noticed f-droid also displays apps which have anti-features and then lists what anti-features the app has.

I sometimes make projects and do not add anti-features myself and do not consciously use proprietary services but I do use a game engine, it is a foss one, but there are third party proprietary binary black box blobs which are used for compiling projects to a android build. but I want to be sure really none of them have any anti-features in them.

so I wondered if there is a tool to scan them for such anti-features to make sure none of such black box blobs secretly inject some form of proprietary malware/anti-features.

for example the game engine expects one to use googles proprietary android sdk to compile it, now I recently found there also is a free open source alternative but didn't yet look deep enough into that as of now, and then still I want to be sure no secret anti-features or malware sending data to google or backdoors or such are injected.

after all if they don't want to tell about or show what actually truly happens one should always be cautious, and I certainly don't want such shit ending up in something I made.

so how does f-droid figure out if and what anti-features are in a app, and how to check a local apk file for such anti-features(one that isn't uploaded to a store(yet, or just won't be uploaded in some cases, since regularly it is just some random experiment or thing I want).

the gameengine I use for making them is godot, which is free open source, but for exporting to android proprietary closed blobs are needed typically. I use godot since it can make pretty optimized things not to heavy weight and mostly allows porting it directly to around any platform and using one programming language instead of having to use different programming languages and writing different rendering engines for every platform

Now a days it feels like I need to install apps for almost every single company I do business with, and as consequence my app drawer is unmanageable, it takes me tens of seconds to find any app I'm looking for. So I'm looking for a launcher that allows me to organize the app drawer in categories, any suggestions?

Preferably something not based on folders, pages, or tabs, I would rather just scroll trough all my apps like in the vanilla Android launcher, but in "category order" instead of alphabetical order. But if folders or tabs are the only options then it will do.

I noticed that Lawnchair is no longer maintained. I've been using it as my default launcher for years, because I like Pixel Launcher features and customizability.

I found out theres Lawnchair 2 (on google play), and it 'introduces powerful new features' and is still getting (beta) updates, but I couldn't find it's github repo.

Despite the fact that I like privacy-friendly FOSS apps, I'm pretty old-school, have never been a very demanding android user, and have never self-hosted anything.

Now, there's an app worth trying out that requires self-hosting, and I'm not very familiar with the term, let alone how it works. Again, it's unknown whether I'd find that app useful enough to replace the one I'm currently using, and as far as I understand you need to pay to be able to self host.

I'd simply like to try the app, so paying for 5 minutes seems a little costly - and I was wondering if there's any other way? Or is it something that has to be paid for, with no exceptions? :) Thank you.

Hey all,

First, shoutout to Zhuang for this amazing app. I'm currently testing the app coming from Amazon Music, and love the UI/UX compared to Amazon's ad-ridden, and dysfunctional app.

Now, my question is, where is the downloaded music located? I've looked through Android/data/com.zionhuang.music via Amaze files, but I don't see the downloaded content. I've searched around that I may need to use the stock AOSP file manager to see, but I want to check in with all of you good people to see if there's a workaround. In addition, I read the README on GitHub, but for the life of me can't find how to access downloaded files, or maybe I'm just dumb or blind. Or both.

I'm using a base Samsung S22 US version, running InnerTune version 5.

While I'm at it, and I know this isn't the privacy or degoogle sub, but what data does Googel get aside from our IP while using InnerTune?

...The successor of ViMusic. Better than (in my personal opinion) InnerTune and Vibe Music.

r/fdroid have been hidden for quite sometimes. Is the subreddit in indefinite hiatus?

r/revancedapp is also restricted for a while.

(I hope my post doesn't break any rule of the subreddit.)

There seem to be apps like LIFE and hatch but they are not open source as far as i can tell.

Any of you know of any good ones?

I dug up my old watch, and was disappointed to see just how invasive the Samsung presence is. I see that Pine has open-source options, as well as AsteroidOS, but neither of those support the Samsung devices. Also important to know, the OS that these watches use is called Tizen OS, which is advertised as open-source, but I haven't found any options for my hardware. Would suck if that hardware went to waste.

Is there a FOSS app locker app for Android that uses the fingerprint scanner to open apps in addition to a password?

I kindly request your assistance in suggesting a phone for me. Unfortunately, the smartphone subreddit is currently private, so I am unable to seek advice there. If this post is deemed unsuitable for this subreddit, I kindly request that you remove it or notify me accordingly.

I currently own a redmi note 4, I'm considering upgrading my phone.

My requirements are:

  1. Unlocked for installing a custom OS

Important to me:

  1. 3.5mm headphone jack
  2. USB C

Nice to haves:

  1. User serviceable battery
  2. Long Battery Life
  3. Decent Camera
  4. SD card slot (if the storage is extremely small)

Totally Unnecessary:

  1. Fancy/large screen, especially OLED/other related display tech, i don't want burn in
  2. Fingerprint/facial recognition

Thank you kindly for your assistance.
