I used to use Blitz.gg for importing runes. But the installer of for Lutris crashes or hangs while installing, or after installing the app doesn't boot.

Can anyone give directions on how to use Blitz or something like Professor on Linux?

There are new versions available from GloriousEggroll's GitHub which now are based on proton-wine.

This time it was a bit more challenging to get things working as proton-wine requires some hacks to make it build without errors.

As usual: I only build-tested. I have no clue if it is actually possible to run the game with this.

If there are questions about this, please ask them here in this thread. I have also activated discussions on my wine-lol GitHub project. I would prefer to discuss questions here but if someone prefers to use a GitHub community, then it is available now.

I'm no longer around at Reddit. I don't want to indirectly increase the value of a company that clearly does not care at all about its users.

Issue
When I try to launch the game via the main Lutris menu, the Riot logo will appear, disappear, and soon a pop-up from Lutris appears saying leagueclient.exe is not answering.

Distribution Version
Pop! OS 22.04 LTS (NVIDIA)

Installation Method
Lutris

Wine Version
lutris-GE-Proton8-12-x86_64 (default)

After upgrading my system a couple of days ago, League wouldn't start at all via Lutris. After some experimenting it started again if I ran the Riot Client from the "run exe inside wine prefix". It turned out that the latest release of "gamescope" (which I use because otherwise my mouse escapes to my second screen on Wayland) is broken. Reverting to a previous version via the arch package archive fixed the issue and League starts without problems.

I have probably installed League on Arch with Lutris 10s of times, but now it isn't working somehow.
Installation went as it always did. I did not sign in at the Riot Launcher the first time, but quit it. The relaunched, logged in and clicked on Play.
Nothing. I can now launch League through Lutris. I get the Riot Client but nothing else. I can see in my Taskbar, that an opengl windows opens, but it shows nothing and goes away after a minute.

When i switch the wine Version from GE-Proton to System (8.13), i can at least see the transparen LoL Logo, but the Client still won't launch.
I'm at a loss here. Am i doing something wrong?

I am by no means a super technical person, but it's a fact that the instructions provided in the page about how to install league on my steamdeck did not work no matter how hard I tried.

What worked for me was essentially:

  1. Install lutris flatpak
  2. Download GE's lol-wine version
  3. Manually download the league installer from rito's site
  4. Manually invoke the downloaded wine executable to run the installer

.var/app/net.lutris.Lutris/data/lutris/runners/wine/lutris-ge-lol-8.7-1-x86_64/bin/wine <installer>

  1. Let it install completely(login, download the entire game)

  2. Add it as an installed game in lutris.

Boom! A more portable way, no reason to be afraid that the next SteamOS update will break your installation.

You could probably modify the script a bit so that you create a custom wine prefix rather than use the default ~/.wine

Is there a way to cap fps to a specific amount? my brother got a new pc last month and i noticed that when the fps is ridiculously high (1000+) the game becomes choppy, now that i got a new pc as well that gets this sort of fps, is there any way to cap to something like 600 or 400? since the game only allows a max of 240.

Hi! I've been experiencing a massive slowdown on the client after a game just finished, it's pretty much completely unusable where it only updates visually every few seconds. If I wait for a few minutes it goes back to normal but it's still kinda annoying. Have any other players encountered this issue?

Hey, have anyone managed to install custom skins with cslolmanager in linux ??

Hello fellow Linux users, I’ve downloaded league on my steam deck using Lutris, the game runs fine but the loading times after the match ends are about 10 minutes long. Any fixes?

How's the performance? I have a i7-7600U and I'm struggling to get 60 fps with medium settings. I'm on Arch linux if that matters.

On W10 I was easily pushing 80+ fps full resolution and max settings. Is there a problem with my drivers perhaps or should I expect that intel integrated graphics would run league terribly?

Just want to see your experiences with this. Also is there a discord or something for this site?

Stuck on ”Creating Wine prefix”

Last month, I had an issue where when I used the three finger swipe up gesture or clicked outside the window of the game or launcher, the window of the game disappears. I can hear the sound of the game and my party teammates can hear me, but nothing I can do, like the game was on another virtual desktop. I changed from settings to have just one desktop and restart, but the clicks on my mouse or trackpad didn't work. I can move the camera inside the game and use the keyboard, but no clicks. I tried to play in a window mode from Lutris settings and Widows borderless mode but the second I clicked outside the window or after the first match when the client opens again, I was not able to click, only to move the camera by mouse or to use the keyboard. Client was fine, only in match I wasn't able to click. Sometimes, but in 10% of cases, a full restart of the laptop resolves the issue.

I followed all the tips and tricks from your How to Optimize League of Legends
I enabled DXVK/VKD3D and Feral mode
I installed libappindicator and App Indicator Support and GNOME Shell Integration

I tried to reinstall the game multiple times from Lutris using Stable and Stable EUNE, reinstall Lutris as flatpak or RPM, reinstall wine-stable from site command or from Fedora Store. Now I have the latest Lutris from rpm Fedora, latest Wine stable version. I tried to switch from Wayland to x11 because I was thinking the windows and how I clicked outside was the issue, but no result because I can't install League no more.

Now when I tried to install League of Legends from Stable EUNE or nonEUNE, the logo of Riot Games appears on-screen for 3–4 seconds and after a red logo appears in the top bar near the Wi-Fi and keyboard logos. On Lutris window it says Creating Wine prefix and keeps going for hours.

Because I can't install League, there are no logs

All I want is to play League with my friends from Linux (because it is the best OS for me) and to not be banned from the game because I can't move not being AFK. Sorry for my English, not my first language.

Had multiple accounts banned for cheating (I do not use third party tools) this patch. Has to be Linux related. Is there a conversation about this somewhere? Kind of hard to know whether it is widespread or not since reddit is dead.

It always happens 2nd-3rd game of the day. I get kicked out of fullscreen, lutris shuts down and a tab opens behind the game saying "dictionary update sequence element #45 has length 1; 2 is required". (sometimes with different sequence element #)

I can close the tab and go to video settings in game to re-toggle fullscreen and keep playing as normal afterwards. It seems to have been happening since the update that made the riot client persistent in the background pretty recently.

was wondering if anyone else is running into this, or could point me in the direction of a log that shows why its happening.

I'm using Arch linux with dwm, lutris with the python launch helper script, and lutris-ge-lol-8.7.1 wine runner

Hey. I have Nvidia GPU 4090 and Ryzen 5090 and I'm sure I have setup my nvidia drivers correctly, because I'm running a bunch of other games like Witcher 3 and Rise of the Tomb Raider and they are running very well.

I have installed LoL from Lutris by using your instructions and standard eue installer. I have installed it without problems, the only thing I noticed was that once it stopped downloading and I closed client before logging in, it didnt seem to do anything more in lutris console. It just closed and asked me to launch LoL.

From the moment I launch riot client, my entire system is getting laggy. My fedora 38 xcfe is responding slowly (im using x11 although im not sure what it means yet, im new. But no wayland), my mouse is laggy, it seems like I went from 140Hz to 30Hz. Turning on low spec did not change anything, nor did turning graphic options down in game. When I try to create practice game, I select a champion and the game window does not appear for a good minute or two. It does not maximize by itself, and its terrible slow. In game I can make it stable 90fps by turning all graphic options down, but even at 90fps, I can see its stuttering to the point where its unplayable. Its so laggy its impossible to play.

Ive checked LoL lutris config and its using LoL optimized version of wine.

What can I do?

Thank you in advance

I have just installed league through lutris as it says on the wiki, every thing seems to have worked during installation, but when i try and open the game(through a shortcut or through lutris) it just gets stuck and does nothing.

44

I can successfully start the client and go through champion selection, but when the game is about to begin only a black screen is present and after a while a pop-up saying Failed to connect, retrying or reconnecting from the client does not seem to fix the issue. Is anyone else experiencing the same issue here or know a fix?

I use lutris and recently updated to the lutris-ge-lol-8.7.1 which seems to be the latest wine version available.

45

I've got a bug where the game does not create a window after champion select, but it is open in the background and loads into SR. If you stop the game process and press reconnect in the client, it usually still does not work, but ~1/10 of the time it may eventually let me into the game. At the same time, (could be the same or a different bug) the game may decide to create a 1x1px window that I cannot interact with instead. This also has the same issue, where I just have to close and reopen the game and hope if I try enough times I can load in time for it to not be a remake. These issues happens interchangeably - may have no window one time and 1x1px window the next time.
If I attempt to reconnect enough times, it may let me join back, and work fine, and I can play the game, OR;

Occasionally, the game will run at a higher speed than it should. Minions teleport backwards and forwards when they are running down lane, damage from minions doesn't apply to the other wave, champions also microstutter when they move (including your own) tp-ing forwards and backwards by small amounts. Abilities and autos have ~50% chance of not going through when you press buttons, so you could mash your flash summ or q/w/e/r and nothing happens, regardless of how many times you press. Champions and minions move faster (the MS number is the same, but in practice it's very clearly far higher than what it should be). I have only had this happen recently in my games with akali, and I've also noticed that my smoke just doesn't render at all (literally can't see when i'm invisible). After using rocketbelt, the timer bar at the bottom of your screen just stays there for the entire game.
I can tell that the game itself is at a higher speed or something as the in game timer is ahead of the actual game time - I was still getting platings and the in game timer said it was at 14:30. Platings went down when the game said it was at ~16min, so it's approx 14% faster than it should be.

This issue doesnt go away after closing the game and pressing reconnect or closing the game and launcher and reconnecting, it persists for the entire game and only seems to go away after the game finishes. This is incredibly frustrating, as it's simply unplayable to have abilities not go through.

Anyone recognise any of these bugs or how to resolve them?

Hi!
New user of Pop_OS (Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS x86_64), I just installed Lutris (using FlatPack, from Pop!_Store) and League of Legends using Lutris.

Everything went well during the installation.
I can now run the client, select a game, a champ but then nothing happens while the game try to start.
I only have the "Reconnect" page: https://imgur.com/Il6LP5g

Please find the logs I gathered : https://pastebin.com/QVmRLAh1
Thanks for your help!
PS: I hope Kbin is the right place now Reddit is private

Hi all,

I am having some issues when using the latest Lutris installer. The lutris installer says to not login and exit out of the client when it is done downloading. When I exit out of the client, wine gives the following error:

wine client error:424: write: Bad file descriptor

The Wine version that Lutris installs during the process is lutris-ge-lol-8.7-1-x86_64.

I have tried many things such as using different versions of wine, double checking my graphics drivers, and removing .wine directory and so on. Has anyone seen this issue before? Your help is much appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi there. Welcome to our new home.

49

The global reddit situation has devolved to the point where reddit admins have been overtly lying and actively changing their site policies in order to remove and replace protesting moderators, despite having previously claimed they would “respect the community’s right to protest", among many other lies.

r/leagueoflinux is still restricted and actively polling for feedback in response to the ever-evolving situation. Please continue to share your thoughts in the sticky thread.

In the meantime, League of Linux has begun accepting submissions, including support requests, on Kbin at kbin.social/m/leagueoflinux

Rules are identical across both r/leagueoflinux and m/leagueoflinux

Guides and other information about Kbin can be found on /r/RedditAlternatives, r/KbinMigration, and their official documentation. I am not as intimate with Kbin as I am reddit, of course, so you'll likely see many changes to the 'magazine' (subreddit) over the weekend.

As a short-n-sweet reminder: I launched leagueoflinux.org as the full-time replacement of the wiki this week as well; it's open source, naturally :)

I have not yet worked on the Discord/Revolt side of things. I'll update on that again this weekend. I wanted to make the announcement regarding Kbin sooner rather than later as it's unclear how the situation on reddit will continue to develop moving forward.

I have been, and will continue to, monitor the evolution of the protest and responses closely. I sincerely don't know what lies ahead for this site at large moving forward, nor for the fate of r/leagueoflinux and now m/leagueoflinux either. Things evolve quite rapidly and have only continued to escalate in intensity so far.

Fuck u/spez for actively sabotaging one of the last major bastions of Internet forum culture, and for showing a disgusting level of apathy and contempt towards the users, moderators, contributors, and developers who were fundamental to the success of your site. Resign you greedy, disrespectful, pig.
