I have an OLED TV and I fall asleep often with it on. Worried about burn in. For months now, I see that I sleep through hours of the WAN show. The logo and bar at the bottom is the concern. How do I tell youtube to not cycle that in my auto-play mix? I'd hate to downvote a bunch of them to "teach" youtube. And yes, I sometimes use the TV sleep timer but often pass out from exhaustion before I remember to set it.

The Linus response to this honey drama is so bizarre. Linus not doing enough to warn others was like a footnote in the video, but he keeps putting his foot in his mouth trying to excuse it and complaining how unfair it is that people expected him to say something.

He gets into it pretty much immediately link for anyone that wants it.

So according to linus, he didnt make a video calling out the honey scam because If he did make a video on it, it wouldve gone really bad for him because viewers hated content creators monetizing their content. Since all that was known at the time was the affiliate link hijack it wouldve looked like he was crying and telling viewers to stop using a thing that benefitted them but at the expense of content creators.

(this sounds like an ok-ish plausabile reason, but the fact that he didnt say it last time and even now has to read it off a script makes me think this isnt why he didnt do a video on it. my guess he saw this excuse in a comment section or it appeared to him as a shower thought)

because he didnt need to, it was actually major news among content creators at the time and a lot of people knew! There was actually a big news cycle about honey scamming creators in the creator space and creators stopped working with honey because of it. it wasnt as big a deal as this time but it was a big deal. viewers just didnt know about it.

(just gonna point out the phrase "a lot" when saying "a lot of content creators knew" is doing a lot of heavylifting and its super weasily. whats a lot? nearly every big content creator and honey pusher ive seen cover this drama says they didnt know).

also linuses co-host drops a weird comment, he emphasises that this hot news cycle was happening in verbal conversations and not in video or text. is he trying to get ahead of the total lack of evidence for this phantom hot news cycle?

So, judging from my Googling into this topic, this apparently goes back almost 6 years when YouTube started rolling out this feature. However, only recently has my YT feed gotten more and more filled with auto-dubbed videos and automatically translated titles.

I'm bilingual (German/English) and watch a fair bit of creators in both languages. If my YT app is set to English, almost all of the major German-speaking creators get their video titles translated (the translations are mostly fine, I might add; however, there are always a couple of oddballs) into English, and their default audio track is this bone-chilling AI voice translating their entire speech into English. The same thing happens vice versa if the app language is set to German with all the English-speaking creators (not LTT for some reason, though).

I get that this is a truly great feature in terms of accessibility, but how does YouTube not understand that bilingual people exist? I like watching my German creators in their original voice and language and do so just as much for my English-speaking ones. I wouldn't even mind having this feature on by default, if only I could turn it off, have a whitelist for certain languages, or something. But it seems that YT doesn't deem me worthy enough to choose my own default playback language. I also can't seem to make heads or tails of how it is decided which creator gets the punishment of this feature and who doesn't.

Does anyone else get this, or may have also found a workaround? Did I accidentaly sign up to be a beta-tester of sorts who now gets to suffer for his poor decisions of the past? Because all my Googling led to people having the same complaints back in 2019, and still, there seems to be no solution.
