In the stream today Linus mentioned that he wants to do a video on Windows tweaks to make Windows more usable (Dan called it "De-Windows Windows) like removing web search from start search. If they end up doing that, they should check out and possibly showcase Winaero Tweaker. It's a program that's basically what I would describe as an improved GUI for the windows registry.

All it is is a list of registry tweaks that won't be in Settings like removing internet search from the start menu, or removing start menu ads, disabling telemetry, removing Microsoft account requirements, bringing back the old context menu, stuff like that there's a ton of options.

And if you don't feel comfortable letting a third party program mess with your registry, there are links in every tweak to tutorials that show you how to do it yourself too.

Last WAN show Linus mentioned that they planned to release some of the 3D models they use internally for people to print themselves. Have they actually done that or is that still an upcoming release?

Hey LTT community, I need to share my experience with HP's warranty support that has left me without a working laptop for almost 2 months now.

The Setup

I bought an HP Dragonfly Pro (32GB RAM, 5G model) for field work. Premium device, premium price tag, "premium" support. What could go wrong?

The Nightmare Begins

  • Device fails October 24th (just 2 weeks after purchase)
  • HP receives it November 6th
  • Warranty promises 5-day turnaround
  • Reality? 40 days of "parts shortage"

The "Support" Experience

During this 40-day wait, HP sent me a loaner that belonged in a museum - a 6-year-old laptop with a cracked chassis. Had to return it immediately because it was unusable.

It Gets Worse

After 40 days, I finally get my laptop back. But plot twist: it's now in worse condition than when I sent it:

  • Crashes every 10 minutes
  • Eventually stops booting completely
  • Shows motherboard failure (5 long flashes, 3 short flashes on caps lock)

The Cherry on Top

Here's where it gets really good. The escalation agent emails me on December 5th:

"I will be calling you Monday as we discussed to go over replacement options"

Then on December 13th, same agent:

"Unfortunately, a replacement request will be denied. I do have to follow the warranty guidelines and it states we have to be given the opportunity to fix the unit"

They want me to send it back for another 3-week repair attempt. The model isn't even in production anymore, yet they insist on "fixing" it.

Current Situation (December 18)

  • Still no working laptop
  • 55+ days without a functional device
  • Support refuses replacement
  • Demanding another repair attempt
  • Filed BBB complaint
  • Escalated to executive team

The Impact

I need this laptop for field testing and data analysis. Instead, I've spent countless hours dealing with support and have nothing to show for it.

Lessons Learned

  1. HP's warranty promise of 5-day turnaround is meaningless
  2. Their "premium" support is anything but
  3. They'll make you wait months before considering replacement
  4. Support agents will contradict themselves
  5. Executive escalation seems to be ignored

TL;DR

Bought HP Dragonfly Pro, failed in 2 weeks, waited 40 days for repair, got it back worse than before, support promised replacement then denied it, still no resolution after 55+ days.

Think twice before buying an HP laptop, especially their "premium" lines. Their warranty support is a joke, and they'll leave you hanging for months with a paperweight.

To keep it short: my older sister learned about this box from a trusted relative, got it, and claims that she no longer subscribes to Disney+, Max, etc. because everything from every streaming service is on there, for a large upfront cost of course.

I know the channel has made a video on Android TV Boxes but this seems a bit different, and sketchy to acquire, with high fear of malware. The link my sister used is here: .

Let me know what y'all think.

I'm a channel manager for a YouTube channel called Sir Swag Academy. It's a sub channel for Sir Swag. That channel had about 600,000 subscribers, and Sir Swag Academy had about 27,000. A few days ago the main channel was hijacked by Russian hackers using the same methods that they attacked the LTT channel with last year. The main channel went down, and has stayed down because YouTube support has been zero help. We thought we could rebuild everything on the second channel that I manage, but just today that channel went down as well. I worked for two years to build Sir Swag Academy, and Sir Swag himself has been doing YouTube as a full-time job for the last three or four years. It's so crushing that everything we worked for has been destroyed in such a short amount of time, and I just don't know what to do anymore. It feels like YouTube is intentionally not helping us, not responding to any of our requests. We need some help, if anybody can get this in front of Linus and maybe he'd be able to pull some strings by being vocal about this. I feel like I just watched the most important thing in the world to me get stolen by crypto bros and burned for a quick buck.

Please help,

Skipti
