1/20, 9:50 p.m. ET: Alright folks. Been on and off for almost 12 hours. Thanks for asking some great questions and having me here on /r/LivestreamFail. Have a good night everyone!

Howdy!

I’m Jacob Wolf, an award-winning investigative journalist who recently published an investigation about Softgiving, a middleman for-profit company that reportedly collected 42 percent of charity donations for campaigns led by major Twitch and YouTube stars such as Asmongold, Ludwig, xQc and others.

This story took two and a half years to report out and a week prior to its publication, Softgiving — now known as Brandfluence — filed a lawsuit against me, alleging I conspired with four other defendants to defame the company. It demanded we not publish. I deny these allegations and look forward to defeating their SLAPP suit in court.

I’m currently independent and run a media company called Overcome that produces podcasts, TV, film and newsletters.

In addition to my reporting, I host the Visionaries podcast, which has had guests such as Ludwig, QTCinderella, Anthony Fantano, Motion City Soundtrack and others. If you want to support what we’re doing, consider becoming a paid subscriber on Patreon.

Before Overcome, I worked for nearly five years as the lead reporter covering esports at ESPN and led the investigative team at Dot Esports. I’ve worked in gaming and esports for nearly a decade and will be spending much of my 2024 covering Twitch, YouTube and the creator economy.

Excited for this AMA. Ask me anything!
