So for years I've collected both hard copies and I've also downloaded and kept digital ebooks of everything and anything I can get my hands on to do with Off Grid, Homesteading, combat - armed and unarmed, weapons, military manuals, hunting, growing, fishing, raising animals, alternative energy sources, bushcraft, survival, prepping, etc.

I've shared to others over the years when they've sent me enough hard drives.

I tried to do a online Google drive but it would have taken crowd funding to do which became sadly something not with dealing with.

But I love share what I have when I can. And I love getting new stuff to add and grow my repository.

I’m interested in how many people in this community are trying to fully electrify their off grid setups vs still relying on gas equipment. Are electric mowers, golf carts/ATVs/UTVs, etc. sufficient for you? Do you have enough solar and storage to support them?

I just closed on 75 unorganized acres with full rights, nearly fully treed with ~30 year old growth, two deep ponds and a creek, surrounded on all 4 sides by crown land, road easement access about 6km off the highway, 20 mins from the closest small city with a hospital and all other amenities.

I don't know if I will ever get past the disbelief stage that I. Own. Land. And quite a lot of it... I never thought I would be able to. I'm sitting here in actual shock right now and just wanting to express my happiness somewhere. I'll be heading up there in the spring to spend 3 seasons getting to know the land and planning my layout, and likely will start my cabin build in spring 2026. What the fuck man I'm a landowner and I am actually taking a shot at this off grid thing I've been wanting to do for years.

I'm ecstatic. I'm nervous. I'm single lmao. But goddamn I am content. I didn't really have any questions or anything just wanted to say I fuckin' made it and Merry Christmas.

What offgrid projects are you working on this day, week, season? Would love to hear what everyone is up to! We're just getting on our land, so we're focusing on base infrastructure like water and buildings. We need storage, so a shed structure is on the todo list. We're also finishing a larger cabin so that's always got a task for us. And we're currently hauling 7 gallon water totes, so insulating and installing a larger 200+ gal cistern is on the top of the list this week. Where are you at? What are you working on?

When you were first getting started, how was the land buying process? I know this varies state by state but did any of you have to work with a realtor and loan officer or were you able to purchase/finance directly from a seller? Did you take advantage of any incentives from the USDA or did you just handover cash to a dude and get a deed?

Also, how big of a plot does one realistically need? I know an acre in the hills isn’t the same as an acre on the plains but just getting started with research.

Thank you in advance for any insight you might share.

Hi folks, looking for useful Christmas ideas for a family member (in law) who is wanting to build themself a tiny camper to pull behind their bicycle to go cross country. They’ve been estranged for the past 7 years, and just came back around last month and they’ll be here for Christmas so I don’t know a lot about them but they’re talking a lot about this plan for their life. What are some ideas they’d for sure find useful, not looking to break the bank below $75 please and thank you so much

I live in a dry cabin during the summer and while I love it I cannot figure out the bathing situation. The county won't let us dig a well because we're on a big lake and there're water table issues. We're working on getting a tank system set up, but until we can do that, does anyone have tips for bathing in a dry cabin? I'm a woman with long hair which makes everything a pain in the butt. Last year I just washed my hair in a bowl. Washing in the lake isn't an option because it has a very strong smell.

Ive gotten a very well paying job and saving up money fairly quickly. Ive been taking carpenter classes at my college as well as learning how to set up solar panels and such as well as learning how to grow things. I really feel confident and hopefully can buy land in about 2 years or so.

My grandfather has been very supportive, I've hunted my first deer not to long ago.

Can't wait for Alaska, things seems to be going very well. As for the house itself, I'm really keen on a Shipping Container cabin. its fire-proof, guaranteed not to cave in from the snow, and if i want to expand my house i can just buy another container. Its diffidently more expensive but I don't really trust myself building a whole cabin that can survive Alaska's harsh weather and wildlife.

Hoping to buy land that has a small community near it, if I'm not able to then ill buy land that's more closer to the main town/city in that area.

very exciting stuff

In the near future I will become homeless. Whilst homeless I will need to charge my phone each day.

I will have no access to mains electricity, no car and limited luggage space.

I will need it to cost as little as possible upfront, be capable of fully charging a normal mobile at least one time a day under almost any weather conditions.

Currently the only useful item I have is a 5 year old 20,000 Mah usb power bank.

The options seem to be; 1, Hand crank generator 2, Solar panels 3, Wind turbine

Does anyone have experience relying on any of these options long term?

For reference this is in the UK, south coast.
