I'm considering upgrading my monitor. Currently, I'm using the LG 27GR95QE (27-inch, 1440p, 240Hz, OLED) and the LG C2 (42-inch, 4K, 120Hz, OLED). Also note that when it comes to watching movies and TV shows, I usually watch them on a projector.

I'm debating between the following options:

  • LG 34GS95QE-B (34-inch, 1440p, 240Hz, OLED)
  • Dell Alienware AW3225QF (32-inch, 4K, 240Hz, OLED)
  • LG 45GS95QE (45-inch, 1440p, 240Hz, OLED)

I'm undecided at the moment. From what I understand, ultrawide monitors offers immersion, but its lower PPI may affect clarity. What would you suggest? For context, I have a high-end PC."

My pc has one hdmi port and one what I believe is a "DVI" port or something. It has two circles and a long rectangle thing in the middle. I have been shopping online for a converter (DVI to HDMI) and all the ones I have found only support up to 60 refresh rate. This is acceptable, but my monitor is 144, so ideally I could support up to that. I'm wondering is that possible?

I've been gaming exclusively on consoles for over 30 years. My last PC was a 486 DX2 66. My rationale was that consoles gave you a good enough experience for a fraction of the price of a PC. Fast forward to 2024 and Sony announces the PS5 Pro at a cost of $1,200 AUD. Not only that but, watching a lot of Digital Foundry the consoles don't actually meet their claimed 4K 60fps performance claims.

Having a look around I noticed that you can get a moderately competent gaming PC for the same price. I spent $2,000 AUD on some PC components and put my own system together. The Radeon 7800 XT is a monster (comparatively) to ANY console (I have both a PS5 and XBox Series X) and was finally able to fight the Divine Beast in Elden Ring without dropping to 10 fps.

So thanks Sony for giving me the kick I needed!
