There seems to be the idea on Reddit that everything wrong with games is because of the evil corporate overlords and the poor developers are completely at their mercy. Instead over the past few years we have seen games come out with nearly unlimited resources and still release unoptimized or are just plain bad.

The release of shattered space really got me thinking...the developers had a year and this is really the best they could come up with? Starfield took nearly a decade to make with an unlimited budget and is just not a good game. Cyberpunk was delayed for years and still released with so many bugs and glitches to point PlayStation refunded purchases. At least the technical issues in cp2077 were mostly fixed in the end.

Elden ring has made billions upon billions and still years later the game is extremely poorly optimized on every platform. At this point I can only assume the developers are incompetent and incapable of making a game that runs well.

The list goes on and on for massive budget games that had pretty much unlimited time to be made and still had terrible releases. If something like gta6 isn't perfect on launch after nearly 15 years and billions of dollars in development, it is 100% the devs fault.

I know for every developer screw up there is probably 2 bad decisions made from executives but you only hear about those and the devs never get any part of the blame. We need to start holding incompetent devs accountable by voting with our wallets or this industry will keep getting worse and worse.

So I've been wanting to move on from Windows 10 since it's losing support next year and I am wanting to do a fresh OS install. Not sure if I should just install Windows 11 for the performance gains that they've had recently or if I should try Linux (using a gaming distro like Nobara or Bazzite). I'm familiar with Linux as I use it in my homelab frequently but I'm still torn when it comes to things like compatibility.

Regarding system specs the important parts are below:

CPU: Rzyen 7 5800X3D

GPU: XFX RX 7900 XTX

RAM: 64GB of 3600MHz DDR4

Regarding gaming and how I use the computer it's my gaming/general use PC. I don't really do much for new AAA games and also use my desktop for things like Office (I have Office 2021 Pro Plus installed on it currently) and web browsing.

Just curious as to what your experiences have been with Windows 11 and Linux and what you would recommend based on those experiences.

For me, it's Life is Strange 1. I'm at 79 hours, but the game still makes me cry. :'D

For me it was running cyberpunk 2077 on a 17” 1080p Asus Laptop w/ a 2070S to then upgrading and seeing the game run on a 32” 4K OLED monitor with a 4080S, Now there’s no going back lol
