Like the post says, after gamming for 2 years on PC. I don't think I can ever go back to console. I have access to both Xbox and PlayStation games and other games on top of that! Plus I dont have to pay for online services. I

I often see people worried about power consumption. I've honestly never given two thoughts about it so I decided to calculate it for fun. My electrical rates average ~8 cents/kWh in USD. This is how much it costs me to run my PC equipment per month.

2U Server 24/7 - $17.50 per month

1U NAS - 24/7 - $4.10 per month

Router/Switches/APs - 24/7 - $5.80 per month.

High End PC1 - occasional use - $7.80

High End PC2 - occasional use - $6.80

Media PC1 - occasional use - $3.50

Media PC1 - occasional use - $2.00

Garage PC - occasional use - $1.78

Workshop PC - occasional use - $1.55

Total: $51.14

My take: worrying about the cost of power for a home setup isn't really worth the effort. It's cheaper than I thought it would be.

What are the electricity rates where you are and do you care about power consumption?

Hello everyone. I want to upgrade my pc but I last kept in touch quite a while ago, I tried to ask around on different subreddits but I got only a few answers so I'm trying my luck here. Right now the thing that's bothering me is the CPU, I have AMD Ryzen 7 5800X and the processor that caught my eye is Intel Core i7 14700kf but I've recently heard from a friend that Intel's reliability has declined and that they have quite a lot of returns which is understandably worrisome, but at the same time I didn't find an AMD processor with similar performance for a similar price, of course, there are things like Ryzen 9 7950X3D which is significantly more powerful but that one is more than 200€ more expensive (on the shop from which Im buying those at least). I've also heard somewhere that the i7 is probably the best processor from Intel's 14th gen, but the thing I've heard most about is that AMD has quite a big lead when it comes to sales customer satisfaction and stuff like that. I don't know why that is the case so could someone explain to me what was going on in the CPU marketplace while I wasn't paying attention to it? And also if the i7 14700kf is even a good choice.

side note: The last time I knew what was going on was about 8 years ago. Since then I bought the Ryzen 7 5800X purely off of a friend's recommendation. just so you know how long I've been out of touch.

So I'm in my teens and it's so hard to save up 😫. I have £700 so far and I feel like it's going to take years to get to the cost of my pc. Is it worth it to spend less and get something less powerful? All the jobs for people my age are really low paying. I really want the 4080 super and 7 7800X3D but I'll be saving for ages. I could have a 770x and 4070 ti super or something even cheaper but I'd love a high end pc. What should I do?

Literally they're all like "let's go to the strip club!" (Sounds fun) Or "order prostitutes".. sounds fun, but is it weird that I'd rather get myself a gaming computer instead of wasting money on frivolous activities? Sex is free and comes around once in a while, but GeForce RTX's don't do that.

Does that mean I can still turn it down to normal again? Think of upgrading but I’m not all that confident with over clocking. When I get the gpu delivered can I just turn it down to normal settings again?
