This guy really said “Maxx needs 20 sacks to have a chance at winning DPOY”. Like dude if he gets 20 doesn’t win that would be a joke. I should just delete BR lol

Is anyone else just genuinely surprised by how bad of a head coach McDaniels was and how much he didn't learn from his time in Denver? It's erie how similar his behavior was in Denver and Vegas. Alienating the starting QB (Cutler & Carr), trading popular players (Marshall & Waller), over working the team with long meetings and practices, completely unable to connect with his players, stunning level of arrogance sticking to his 'system' instead of doing what his players do best. Reaching in the draft (Tebow & Wilson).

It was a long time between head coaching gigs, but he seemed to learn nothing , didn't change a thing. You'd think given how his first job went he would naturally grow, reflect and figure out what he had to do differently if given another opportunity. He came back a decade later the exact same dude, I find it shocking.

Even now I'd bet in his mind this was the players or the organization's failings not his. I'm just shocked by his refusal to grow, change and adapt.

Hey guys & gals, Colts fan coming in peace.

I’m able to go to my first ever NFL game, the weekend after thanksgiving (Chiefs at Raiders)

I’ve been to lots of MLB games when I was a kid, but I have no clue what the routines are of NFL players/teams.

My little nephews will be with me and would LOVE to have any interaction, or even just to see up close, NFL players.

Are there any festivities the day before, or leading up to the game, other than just the players obviously warming up on the field?

I realize this might sound like a dumb question, I basically don’t really know what I’m asking, but we live in Alaska, so this is a really big deal for us. No professional sports up here at all 🙁

Thank you very much for any guidance and pointers!

Not kicking a dead horse here. Mayock for example stills gets mentioned at how bad he whiffed especially when we had 3 third round picks. But I think it's interesting to look into just how TERRIBLE Zieg/clown were at evaluating DT's

2022 draft. Neil Farrell Jr- was useless. Straight bust that was off our team in 1 year. 4th round pick

Matthew Butler- Useless. Has been on the practice squad the entire year. 5th round pick. (nobody dare say 5th round picks aren't important because thats the same round we've drafted Renfrow and Hobbs)

Free agency there was numerous upgraders from our current starters that they chose to not sign. While they pissed away $ on Jimmy G and Chandler Jones

2023 draft- Chose not to take Jalen Carter who is already showing that he will be an elite all pro/pro bowler for the long term

Byron Young- Has been a waste of a 3rd round pick. Everyone knew it was a stupid pick at the time. He's been straight useless and has only seen game action in 3 total games. is inactive most game days

Throughout this entire season that position has been the defenses biggest weakness. Raiders are the 2nd worst defense in rushing yards per game.

I know there is countless regimes in the NFL that come and go, and have screwed up management for many NFL teams. However the 2 clowns stick out because they have to be the worst evaluators at the DT position in NFL history. Combine the draft and free agency......clown show. Almost impossible to swing and miss that bad on 1 single position (not counting QB's)

Needed to get that off my chest hahaha. Now I never have to post about that clown show again

Vikings fan here, don't follow the Raiders too closely.

I've been reading threads about Josh McDaniels for a while now and most threads are just piling on, not really mentioning specifically why he was a bad coach.

I decided to pull up a post game victory speech on YouTube and he just doesn't seem that likable of a guy. I think being likable is a big part of being a coach, because players have to want to win for you.

Does that sum up why he was a bad coach? Or is there even more to it than that?

To be fair, the team didn't underperform that badly this year. If you look at the schedule, the only terrible game was the Bears game. Other than that, they beat the teams they were supposed to beat and lost to the teams they were supposed to lose to.

So what's the official one-paragraph summary on Josh McDaniels tenure with the Raiders and why he was bad?
