I'm wondering if it's common for attendees to stay elsewhere and if you do decide to stay elsewhere how much this impacts your enjoyment of the event?

I have noticed you can book nicer hotels within a 12 minute walk for less than half the price the Wyndham is charging. Even whole apartments available.

I'm just wondering if I book this to save some money will it have a great impact on my ability to enjoy the event? Obviously the convenience of being able to go from room to the main event within a minute is nice but anything else I'm not considering?

The current Yakuza 0 Any% WR route relies on getting a shotgun from an equipment search about an hour into the run, which only happens about 20% of the time. As such, it's a very reset-heavy run that's hard to optimize. This run had a great early game and good late game, but the mid game was fairly disastrous. As such, I'm still not fully happy with this time - but a 22 is a good milestone, and a good place to take a break from this game's awful tutorial.

Dam Agent 0:52

With the new strategy that came out for Dam Agent, many players have been grinding for the iconic world record on the game's first level, including legendary Goldeneye player and one of the greatest of all time, Bryan "Big Bossman" B!

What makes this particular record special is that he originally had untied the world record of Dam Agent 0:53 back on September 27, 2002. This makes it over 22 years between PBs and also achieving the WR on the level! I may be mistaken, but I believe this could be the largest amount of time in speedrunning history?

Big congrats to Big Bossman!

Hello everyone,

Long time ago I created a bot that posts fresh world records from speedrun.com and haloruns.com. It used to work for a long time on Twitter, then "something" happened, I moved it to Mastodon but the instance I was using died, and my interest in Mastodon died too.

Now that I'm settled on Bluesky, I also migrated the bot to this platform, you can follow it here :

Hope you'll still enjoy it :)

Player5 is now the first to hold the WR in all 5 main categories in BotW. He's as dominant in BotW as Greensuigi is in M64, so surprised not to see this posted in the last week!

Thanks to a new strategy theorycrafted by Onslatt and then made to work and refined by Sayonara, Joakim (who was the third person to achieve 52 old strat) and Berg, what was once possibly the most brutal grind in Goldeneye is now significantly easier to achieve. Sayonara, Berg, Odkul and Widdershins have all achieved 52s in the past 24 hours and many more are expected to come flooding in.

In short, the new strategy involves changing the game display to 'Cinema' and the aspect ratio to 16:9 and looking up at a certain angle in order to load the gate guard much sooner, so he opens the gate for you and pressing the button can be skipped.

Sayonara's run (first new player to achieve 52 with the new strat)

There was a video a while ago in the style of summoningsalt’s (or it could have been one of his) where the host revealed halfway through that one of the top runners who had disappeared online was actually them.

hi yall. this is the first time i've actually had a bunch of time off work in the past like seven years, and so i figured what better to do with my day than spend it rewriting and cleaning up subreddit stuff. the sidebar itself has been rewritten to be just generally more clear and remove dead links, a new info page was added with a list of commonly used speedrunning terms, and i rewrote parts of the community FAQ to be more updated with 2024 info. feel free to take a look below and let me know if you've got any feedback on it or things you'd add

(the FAQ page is the one that gets linked to by the automod when people write their post in such a way that might indicate that they're a new runner, so it's more intro-level for that reason)

I am not a runner myself, and did have to simplify things a whole lot when my editor made me cut like 2.5k words from the first draft, so fingers crossed I didn’t describe anything super wrong! Hope you guys like it!

I'm looking for runs that require the player to get somewhat familiar with a lot of subgames. Not just a few, but at least a dozen. The two such I know about are UFO 50, and 100%s of the Yakuza games (which have always taken inordinate joy in stuffing in minigames and putting them in the big list that constitutes 100%--although, thankfully for runners, the more common category All Substories usually only requires you to complete the newish ones)

Are there any other runs like this?

As much as I like TASes, I also like ones that don't fly by so fast that the human brain can't comprehend it, despite having the option to. If anyone knows of some, or channels that host a bunch of them, I'd welcome them. I'd prefer stuff that isn't fighting games, since they're not really my thing (playing or watching).

I know about this one channel called EnterPlayment, but they abruptly stopped posting one day and their site died.
