If a game is too long to speedrun, can you pause the game and continue another day?

I want to speedrun a game that no one speedruned. I want to speedrun Bandle tale but Its imposible to speedrun in 1 day (I think?)

If its possible theres a guide to use the timer app to set it?

Hey there, I was thinking about going to AGDQ but I would be solo. I wouldn't know any other attendees there at all.

I've always loved the event and would love to see it in person, but I'm not sure if attending in person is a good idea completely solo.

I do run a few games myself but as far as I'm aware none of the communities of those games will be attending.

I also don't think I can sign up to volunteer as I am not from the USA plus it's way too late to register for that anyway.

Any feedback really appreciated!

So, does Speed Demos Archive offer any value to modern speedrunning? Or are they just a relic of the past, only worth keeping around because of their history? Does anyone actually even submit to SDA anymore, with their outdated rules, like not generally allowing emulators?

Not trying to (unnecessarily) hate on SDA, but it feels that they have fallen off the wagon, and aren't really relevant to modern speedrunning.

Hi! First time poster here and I'm only doing it because I have a question I can't find the answer to. I was just watching Astralspiffs new speedrunning and it's opening (Devs patching speedrun glitches) reminded me of another video I watched years ago about a game (a fairly big one I think) essentially telling it's community "We'd be happy to have you speedrun our game even send of some clips of the skips you find!" And then promptly repeatedly patching every skip they were sent until they killed off their speedrunning community (That from what I remember was essentially their last pool of customers) if anyone remembers what I'm talking about or even knows of other games that did this. Please comment it!

Haven't really been following speedrunning that closely for years now, but in Karl's latest video I was thrown off by him pointing out how Ocarina of Time is no longer even a top 10 speed game anymore. Once upon a time it was up there with Mario 64 (which is still near the top) as one of the persistent mainstays of speedrunning.

Did the game just get "solved" too hard? Too optimized for any meaningful competition anymore?
