In case anyone is still on the fence about the Steam Deck I just wanted to add to the praise. I’ve had my 1TB OLED model for just over a month now and I can’t put it down!

Games look incredible on it and the OS is so convenient and user friendly! Paired with some nice over ear headphones and a DBrand case it’s honestly a joy to play!

It’s been helpful to start burning through my Indie backlog while occasionally playing games like Ghost Of Tsushima or The Resident Evil Series.

I’ll also add that I’m not super great with tech stuff but even navigating performance adjustments and tweaking settings has been very easy!

If you’re on the fence I highly recommend grabbing one!

For context I got a 19 hour flight in April and wanted to hear peoples experiences.

Just wondering because that update honestly looks incredible. Especially with the additions to the lighting, I’m really itching to hop back into it after years of not playing.

However I’ve never tried it on the Deck, I know it ran well before at around 40-60 FPS, and I know the Switch version exists so it has to be able to run decently.

Which brings me back to my point, has anybody noticed any performance issues or noticeable changes to your FPS after the update? Thank you in advance!

EA have re-eeleased Sims 1 and 2 in a bundle, and according to Steam, it's playable on the deck!

I've seen a bunch of posts on batteries ding when you don't charge it for too long so I've been trying to make sure to charge it every few days, but I wonder if there's anything else I should do? I've been trying to turn it on and then off every week, I'm not sure if that helps! I'm very technologically illiterate so any advice is helpful!

I have 100%ed both campaigns

Main campaign runs at a locked 60fps with highest settings yeah I know not a shocker its 15 years old and the update wasnt a huge upgrade, the real story is the shadow campaign.

But the shadow campaign runs at a mostly locked 60fps on low medium setting with minor dips to high 50s during certain cutscenes.

Really really fun port.

While it may seem like Marvel's Spider-Man 2 can run from the opening, going any further in tells a different story. Massive FPS drops in fights and using the Web Wings, blurry visuals from needing to use upscaling to get a playable framerate, and frame generation introduces bad input lag and slowdowns/jittering due to not being able to hit 60 FPS.

We have only played an hour and a half of it so far, but I highly recommend not getting this for the Steam Deck at this time:

Previously Enjoyed Games: I recently tried Metal Gear Solid V and was blown away by how good it looks and how smoothly it runs at 60 FPS on high settings on Steam Deck.

Preferred Genres: Open-world, action-adventure, or anything with great visuals and performance.

Budget: No specific budget, but reasonably priced would be ideal.

Other Notes: I’m looking for something with similar performance and quality, but not one of the usual games that keep getting recommended on Steam or Reddit. Any hidden gems or underrated titles you’d suggest?

I use it almost daily (and hour or so), turned it on today and it just didn't run (never dropped etc). Put it on charge and the led didn't light up. Did some research and one person said to basically re-do the SSD swap (I did this pretty much the second I got it 64gb to 512). This actually worked and I played for about 10mins. The battery however wasn't accurate saying it was 75% constant. Then I powered off the screen and the led blinked and I noticed a tiny amount of smoke coming out of the vent. Now it won't start or charge.

Any thoughts? I'm thinking to replace the battery. And failing that potentially upgrading to the oled!
