Edited: formatting

Whether you PVP or not hope you can give this an upvote for visibility so this can reach the Devs =)

Back in October 2024 Blizzard acknowledged MMR issues that were affecting arena, especially solo shuffle with this post:

They then made a minor adjustment with the goal of reducing the disparity between Solo Shuffle and BG Blitz ratings and rewards, but unfortunately that alignment was not sufficient and hasn't worked out as recent numbers show the gap has only grown bigger:

NA Blitz R1 spot: 3472

NA Shuffle R1 spot: 2826

Difference: almost 650 rating

The difference is even worse for healers, with only one healer, yes just 1, in the top 100 Solo Shuffle players. There are only 6 healers past 2700 rating in Solo Shuffle at the moment.

NA Blitz top healer: 3524 rating

NA Shuffle top healer: 2740 rating

Difference: almost 800 rating

Making things more difficult for healers is the fact that in Solo Shuffle, healer MMR is deflated 200-300 points compared to DPS for a variety of reasons (healer 3-3, separate ladder for healers with smaller pool of players, etc). Several hundred healers that can get Legend this season are stuck at 2300 because of deflation just going 3-3 against each other and barely moving.

In the same Blizzard Blue post linked above, the Devs communicated that they would continue to monitor the health of each of the rated ladders. With around 6 weeks left to go in the season, there is still something that can be done to remedy this issue and improve queue times for DPS players.

TLDR: Solo Shuffle is just one minor MMR bump away (even just 100 MMR) from helping healers attain their seasonal goals.

Anyone else also experience this? The alts I don’t care for much end up with amazing loot luck, but the ones I enjoy the most (including my main), take like five times as long to get what I’m after.

Keeps me playing I guess…

Hi all,

Just come back to WoW after a few expansions away. Got my main full hero geared, mostly fully upgraded with a 636 crafted weapon. So I wanted to do some high mythic+ to help get gear in my vault and upgrade crests, since I can only do heroic raid once a week and......

How do people enjoy these?

Healing them is the single most stressful and infuriating experience I've had in WoW. I remember doing mythic dungeons before in Dragonflight and I don't remember them being this rage inducing.

So to all my fellow healers, how do you find enjoyment healing high tier mythic+? Is it possible?

I'm an mage. I've had plenty to do with Aethas over the years - matter of fact I was bossing him around during legion!

Then why does the dude call me "champion"?

It would be much more personable if the NPCs would continue to adress us with our Legion titles if we've done the whole order hall gambit.

There was this era during WoD and Legion, where they included the player character much more into the narrative. Some players liked it, others yearned to return to the simpler times of random adventuring. In any case, you can't really undo that. Found it quite fitting to eventually be considered an archmage, after everything my character has been through. There's other classes, too. Sometimes they even get acknowledged (like the priest by Xal'atath!).

It would be a small change if they were to do that consistently where appropriate, but would do so much to be acknowledged as such.

Anyway, that is all!

Hey everyone! We've been working on a project that we think could help a lot of M+ players improve their gameplay, and we'd love to share it with you.

What is WoWOP.io?

WoWOP.io is both an addon and a website that work together to help you understand and improve your Mythic+ performance. Instead of just looking at raw DPS/HPS numbers, we analyze multiple aspects of your gameplay to give you meaningful, context-aware feedback.

How It Works

  • When you die in a dungeon, the addon shows you a popup explaining what killed you and how you could have avoided it
  • Your performance is compared only to other players of your same spec in the same dungeon at the same key level (e.g., Fire Mages in +15 Ara-Kara are only compared to other Fire Mages in +15 Ara-Kara)
  • We analyze things like:
    • Damage/healing output
    • Interrupt performance
    • Avoidable damage taken
    • Deaths and their causes
    • Mechanic-specific performance

Scoring System

Our scoring system is designed to reward good teamplay, not just big numbers. The score is calculated by taking a players percentile, compared to other players of the same class / spec in the same dungeon and same key height. Only completed runs are ranked. Here's the current score weight (and it will change for sure):

DPS Players:

  • Damage Output (5 points)
  • Interrupts (3 points)
  • Avoiding Fails (5 points)

Healers:

  • Healing Output (4 points)
  • Damage Output (1 point)
  • Interrupts (2 points)
  • Avoiding Fails (5 points)

Tanks:

  • Damage Output (3 points)
  • Self-Healing (1 point)
  • Interrupts (2 points)
  • Survival (4 points)
  • Avoiding Fails (5 points)

Why another scoring system?

The scoring system is there to give an idea how good the performance was in comparison to others playing the same slass/spec in that key bracket. This should help people with "off-meta" specs and people who dont push higher keys for score show that they are good enough for the keys they signed up.

It is just something we came up with while brainstorming the idea on how we can help people improve their m+ gameplay.

What's Coming Next Season

We have big plans for the future, including:

  1. Enhanced Dungeon Journal Integration
    • Adding our own tips and strategies directly to the in-game dungeon journal
    • Highlighting important mechanics based on your role
    • Showing common mistakes and how to avoid them
  2. Improved Death Analysis
    • More detailed breakdowns of what led to your death
    • Specific countermeasures you could have used
    • Timeline analysis of cooldowns and defensive abilities
  3. Better Score Calculations
    • More nuanced analysis of performance metrics
    • Better recognition of utility spell usage
    • Role-specific scoring improvements

How to Get Started

  1. Install our addon from CurseForge
  2. Make sure someone in your group is logging to WarcraftLogs (logs should be public)
  3. Run your keys as normal
  4. Check your performance at WoWOP.io

We Want Your Feedback!

This is a community-driven project, and we want to make it as helpful as possible. If you have suggestions for improvements or features you'd like to see, please let us know! You can leave feedback on our CurseForge page or right here in the comments.

We believe that improvement comes from understanding, and we're committed to helping players of all skill levels get better at Mythic+. Give it a try and let us know what you think!

Here are a few Screenshots of the Addon

P.S. If you're wondering about the name, WoWOP stands for World of Warcraft Optimizer or OverPowered - we're not sure yet. Maybe it's both :-) We're here to help optimize your gameplay!

Hello, bit of background on me.

  • This is my first time tanking since leveling dungeons in vanilla WoW.
  • I have never really participated in mythic plus outside of very low keys in which I was very over geared.

My goal this season was to try to get 2k rating on a tank. I have previously played exclusively as a ranged dps player and my previous goals each raid tier was to get AOTC. I am not a great player but I would try hard and my average parses would fluctuate between 60-80.

Motto of first time tanks should be: "Get comfortable with being uncomfortable."

Mindset of first time tanks should be: "I want to be a successful tank more than I'm afraid or anxious of failing."

I see a lot of posts of how to get over tank anxiety or how to get started. Here is what I did:

Researched and prepared

  • When I feel anxious I try to prepare more. I used Quazii to research dungeons, tanks, pulls, tank class knowledge, etc. I didn't feel a need to know EVERYTHING but I felt a need to understand boss mechanics and a generalized route through the dungeon.
  • Start small, finish big. Start in either normal or heroics and treat it like real dungeons depending on gear. Rotate your defensives, practice your active mitigation, get familiar with your route, etc. Then move on to mythics and lower end keys like 2-4s.
  • Find general routes at keystone.guru and use the PUG friendly ones. If you plan on trying to achieve Keystone Hero (KSH) then you don't need fancy skips or elaborate mob skipping. You need an easy, reliable and replicable route that you can remember and lead PUGs or teams through. Understand boss mechanics enough to give light instructions if necessary to your group.
  • Run dungeons over and over. It's the best teacher. Did you plus three a +2 key but feel like a +5 is too intimidating? Bust the key down a few levels. I did this a lot and it helped. If I didn't feel mentally ready for a certain key level then I wouldn't do it and would choose a smaller key to get more hands on experience.

Dungeon Leading

  • Be the change you want to see.
    • Say hello as people join or you join a group.
    • On dungeons with perhaps multiple routes or a large pull at the beginning, feel free to share with your party.
    • Ask them when they prefer to use lust on either first pulls or certain bosses.
    • You will start to gain this type of knowledge while doing lower keys and from your experience
  • Feel free to share with groups that you are a new tank.
    • Most people don't care and are wiling to help you understand the route with in-game pings.
  • You will fail. Everybody does. There is no avoiding this. The only thing you can do is learn from it and try to do better next time.
    • I bricked a +10 key that would have given my group portals recently because I wiped on the second boss in Siege. Because I wiped, that meant I was responsible for 4 other deaths (5 in total) plus the time it takes to run back to the boss to re-pull. It sucked. However, I apologized and moved on and tried to learn what I did wrong and work to correct it in the future.
    • Sometimes for whatever reason you just dont have it mentally to tank during a game session. Recognize this and log off or play a different toon or do lower level content that is much easier to just unwind.
  • If you encounter toxic players just ignore them. Literally, ignore them in game.
  • If dps or healers pull for you take it as their way to communicate that you can do larger pulls.
    • Its also good practice in making you perhaps feel a bit uncomfortable which is good. It allows you to try larger pulls and see how to be successful at them.
    • Also with pugs I usually start off with smaller, one pack pulls and assess their dps and ability to interrupt casters.
      • This information then informs me on what type of group this is and I will adjust my pulls accordingly.

Tank Mentality

  • Be a positive person in the face of toxicity
  • Be patient and willing to explain mechanics if necessary
    • Don't be preachy but offer things you may be seeing that is causing wipes
  • How you respond when you fail is determined by you
  • Pick a class you enjoy! Every tank can get KSH
  • Try to create a fun atmosphere during keys
    • Its ok to joke about a "spicy" large pull or joke when you wipe or fail a mechanic.
  • Be prepared
    • Know the dungeon, know the route, know the boss mechanics for not just your role but other roles if necessary.

Closing Thoughts

I wanted to try tanking because I was getting burned out with the rat race of DPS and meters. I find tanking mythics to be enjoyable and rewarding. I love knowing more about the dungeons and mechanics because I felt compelled to know more as a tank. It's great experience and knowledge to have regardless of role.

I think I will continue in season 2 and try to get even better and perhaps get KSH again even faster. I play with my guild in M+ a lot but I also enjoy playing with PUGs because its so satisfying to clear a dungeon successfully with a PUG group. A lot of times it's a struggle but when it isn't it's a lot of fun to have a random group of people just be in sync with each other and perform really well!
