This won't be enough for you to enter larger rooms with many people, as self-hosting synapse requires a lot of computer power which a phone simply cannot provide.

I wonder if other implementations such as dendrite or conduit can fix this problem. The former one is running really smooth on a Raspberry Pi 3B (though I did not join rooms larger than 300 participants).

But definitely a cool guide, in case you have an old phone lying around.

Plus, a modern phone with decent performance, especially fast storage, can handle synapse, including rather large rooms. Not as efficient as running a truly lightweight HS embedded with the client, but it makes for a perfect p2p Matrix demo.

(Currently running with dozens of rooms including large ones, on a Snapdragon 888 with plenty ram. The obvious bottleneck is the storage chip.)
