I saw him do an interview and he talked about it. It was Pun dying of obesity related natural causes that shook him up. Paraphrasing but "I knew plenty of ni**as who died young, but he was the first one just because he was fat. That shit scared me."

Saw him on family feud of all places and he is indeed not fat anymore. Still goes by fat Joe though I believe.
