This video is a bit old since it mentions the "new" series Altered Carbon and Mr. Robot but it does a great job of explaining the origins and ingredients that led to cyberpunk.

I'm glad it didn't, because the bulky 80s tech looks cool as hell and I'm glad it's a thing.

Oh I'm right there with you, it's probably my favorite part of the cyberpunk aesthetic.
