Welcome

We're not The Onion! Not affiliated with them in any way! Not operated by them in any way! All the news here is real!

The Rules

Posts must be:

  1. Links to news stories from...
  2. ...credible sources, with...
  3. ...their original headlines, that...
  4. ...would make people who see the headline think, “That has got to be a story from The Onion, America’s Finest News Source.”

Comments must abide by the server rules for Lemmy.world and generally abstain from trollish, bigoted, or otherwise disruptive behavior that makes this community less fun for everyone.

And that’s basically it!

Why do they need DRM for a fucking news article

[–] [email protected] 13 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Fuck DRM, fuck Widevine, I just compile my browser without them

[–] ahal 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It's not compiled into Firefox ever. A binary blob is downloaded after the first time you activate DRM. So just don't activate it and it'll never be present on your machine.

That's good to know

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

I just disable it on my browsers, am too lazy to compile :3c

Huh, never noticed that before. I guess they have embedded videos?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Embedded videos don't need DRM

Well yes, but they shouldn't be and they really don't need to

Absolutely correct.
