High school students?! WTF were they feeding them?
Recalling yoel Romero. He was in a program in Cuba specifically due to his physical abilities.

Agricultural high school, and one presumes these are the star athletes of the school, so it's the top strata of farmer's boys who are getting an education to go on, themselves, to be farmers. And farming is pretty, uh, physical work.
Especially in those times in Cuba. They are only now in recent years getting mechanized in farming.
