I hadn't heard that, but I also hadn't heard he adopted his horse in those movies, or that they all got matching tattoos

Fool! They did not all get matching tattoos! For in Secret* John Rhys-Davies sent his body double who was tattooed in his place.

*By secret, I mean he just didn't want to get one as far as I know due to a fear of needles and a belief that such markings are reserved for military folk.

I know for certain he doesn't have it but the double does. I'm not 100% on the reason but that's what I got after six seconds of googling.
