Leaded gasoline was legal until the early 90s. More and more data seem to point to this behind the cause of many mental disorders

Gen X got the brunt of that though not millennials. They started phasing out lead in 1973. Autism isn’t a mental disorder and not one linked to lead exposure afaik

still used in general aviation.

It has taken longer, but that is being phased out as well. Scott Manley recently made a good video on the subject:

Why Do Planes Still Use Lead In Fuel 30 Years After Cars Stopped?

I'm quite aware, one benefit of being a light sport instructor is most of the LSA industry uses Rotax 912 engines which can run on regular and/or premium MOGAS depending on the specific model.

Lead was phased out long before then. A steady decline in crime has been attributed to it's removal. Not just in the US but in other countries also

They might be thinking of nuclear bomb testing that went into the 90s. I wouldn't be surprised if that was associated with various health issues, too.

No I googled it, they're correct. Lead in gas was outlawed in the 90' but they started phasing it out starting in the 70's. I started driving in '84 and don't recall ever having a choice but my memory is fallible

my memory is fallible

I wonder if you can attribute any of that to the lead...

I blame the delicious lead paint flakes from my bedroom window sill

Ah, lead. The forbidden sugar substitute.
