Instead of banning candy and soda as a whole, they banned it only for poor people. Only people with money can enjoy sweets.

I recall when NY wanted to put a restriction on selling containers of soda larger than ~20oz. Republicans were up in arms about how this was restricting freedom. Because freedom requires a 64oz bug gulp.

Of course, poor people don't deserve freedom.
