The female vocalist is wonderful Martina Topley-Bird.

The bassline is sampled from Isaac Hayes' Ike's Rap II (Yes, chef from South Park).

The story goes that Tricky played the sample for members of Portishead before the band was formed. Portishead then used it in their brilliant song Glory Box.

That is funny that Isaac Hayes is famous from South Park in 2025 but when I was a teenager in 1997 when South Park came out he was the most famous thing about it
