UK Politics
General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both [email protected] and [email protected] .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.
Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
[email protected] appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(

It would be a much better idea to align closely with the EU and to be as detached as possible from the US.
If Trump visits, entertain him with a laser pointer or gossip about old queen Bess. But be aware that he'll try to enlist British support for crimes against humanity and treachery against allies. Being a middleman in such a situation is immoral and potentially suicidal. Under no circumstances should you sing nostalgic refrains of "Down at the Old Blair and Bush." That was a catastrophic shitshow that exposed Blair as the soulless weasel that he is, and caused the deaths of half a million Iraqi civilians. Don't help Trump beat that score.
The only winning strategy is to ride out the storm until the raging psychopath blows a gasket. Not that his VP, the Hamster from Hell, is any better.
That ship has sailed. The UK has been arranging intelligence flights out of Cyprus to assist the Israelis in their slaughter in Gaza for the past 16 months. The government put out a D notice about the deployment of the SAS there.
