Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and Labour leader Chris Hipkins said they were open to deploying a peacekeeping mission to Ukraine, if there was a peace agreement that needed protecting.

Their consensus came on Tuesday morning, around the same time that Foreign Minister Winston Peters held an online meeting with Ukraine Foreign Minister Andrii Sybih.

Peters said their call focused on “efforts to achieve a just, comprehensive and lasting peace”.
