This show doesn't understand why people liked the Netflix Daredevil.
It's only been two episodes, I'm withholding my judgement so far. But what do you think is the big thing they miss?
Pacing and scope. If you're going to drop the audience multiple years into the future, you should let them discover what's changed over time gradually. Don't, for instance, have them attend a retirement party and start killing characters. We shouldn't have seen Daredevil until the third or fourth episode. Matt apparently gave up being DD, but he's still wearing all that shit under his I'm Going to A Party clothes.
I read somewhere that the original scripts had Matt not wear the costume for 4 episodes, only being shown as lawyer until then. Marvel allegedly decided that this would alienate audiences and had them re-write it to show Daredevil in action in episode 1.
Wow that sucks because the fight scene in Episode one, where they roll a smoke grenade into the room (probably so you can't see how older and slower Charlie Cox got) and keep the camera off DD, was particularly bad. And then the CGI ... Just woof all around.
I don't have Disney+ so haven't seen the new show. I adored the Netflix show. Can you explain what you mean? I may watch the new one eventually, but I am curious.
The grit is gone.
