I just found out that Kia has a huge class action and extended warranty arrangement for select models. Because my 2016 is included in the affected group, it seems that Kia would reimburse for the new engine, but I’m being told my car isn’t on the list because I didn’t bring it in for a software update before it seized.

I’ve moved to different states in the past 4 years, and don’t know if any Kia notice ever got to me. Since I was unaware of the oil issue, the lawsuit, the recall workaround, and the update, I’m wondering if anyone knows what I could do to be reimbursed. Do I have any options?

Try contacting Kia corporate. Dealers are run independently from manufacturers and will sometimes try to wiggle out of this kind of stuff.

And/Or join the class action/file a claim with the organization in charge of the class action.

Thank you for the ideas. I spoke with the third-party class action representative, but that went nowhere. It seems I can’t join the class action now because… not joking… because my engine seized already. What a world! I’ll try Kia corporate next.
