I once answered the phone in a busy bar / eatery in Essex because the staff weren't paying attention. Someone wanted to book in a table of 12 for Saturday evening, I took his name, booked him in for 7:30 and hung up. I didn't tell the venue and often wonder about what happened.

Reminds me of something happened to a group I was travelling with. We had booked the whole guest house, about 30 rooms, a year ago. Like we had done every year for ages.
When we arrived, they had a new owner and didn't know about our booking. Had to find a hotel for the night for the whole group.
