Overview:

Electric Vehicles are a key part of our tomorrow and how we get there. If we can get all the fossil fuel vehicles off our roads, out of our seas and out of our skies, we'll have a much better environment. This community is where we discuss the various different vehicles and news stories regarding electric transportation.

If you don't have kids, you don't even need a back seat

In my day, that's how kids were made. Plus, I do need groceries and stuff. The dogs also ride back there.

It's a compromise vehicle that doesn't do anything better than the alternatives.

It's way more than a compromise vehicle. Decent mileage/range, not too large, not too small, fits 4 people comfortably, fits just about anywhere, doesn't look ridiculous like the shoe-mobiles lol.

Looks aside, because that's a matter of opinion, but you just listed several things that a sedan does worse than other options. An SUV or minivan (which is what most SUVs are anyway) is going to have more leg room and more cargo space, and unless you're in the full size, they take up the same amount of room as a sedan. And if you want smaller and more efficient, why not go smaller than a sedan?

I drove both a Maxima and a Sentra in the past, and while they were great cars, I wouldn't be able to trade in my Outlander for one today. In fact, I was driving a Chrysler 300 for a while when we were trying to save money and I had a longer commute, but I work from home now and I had to trade it in because it was functionally useless when trying to chauffeur the kids around.

I agree with you on the aesthetics, but I haven't ever had the luxury of picking a car on looks alone. Might as well be talking about whether the gold or platinum rolex looks better with the dashboard.

I'd love to live in a world where I didn't need a big car, where we could walk or bike four seasons of the year, where public transit is a viable option, but that's not a thing where I live.

But you can get that with a hatchback.

Never been a fan of hatchbacks, either.
