Russia is systematically deploying educational and infrastructure projects in Burkina Faso, Ghana, South Africa, and Egypt to entrench its political control under the pretense of development aid.

Isn't that all development aid?

It's more about the fact they are doing good things for a bad reason. Like, education is good, but when propaganda is a part of the curriculum - it's not as good. On the other hand, a huge part why it works is because the western countries have basically abandoned the global South .

What I was trying to say is: Russian aid is definitely being given in return for political control and economic concessions, but that's the case for Western aid too. The article was painting these characteristics as unique to Russian aid when that's really not true.
