Beautiful! Why is the town abandoned?

[–] misterawesome42 4 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

It was a town built around a new pulp mill using the falls as a power source at the turn of the 20th century near Roberval, Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean, Québec.

The decreasing demand for pulp in the 1920s and the 1929 crash sealed the fate of the town.

The town was very well preserved and is now a park available to visit.

More information.

Awesome! Thank you for the info. One of the things I have always loved about QC is how well they treat their heritage buildings.
