I'm traveling with my two year old during Austere August and the Days of Weckoning, and I've come up with this contraption to keep the blade safely out of Djunior's reach:

It's a leather cigar box (so moisture can still escape) with a hole drilled through so I can lock it with a standard TSA cable lock. But it got me thinking: are there better ways?

Have you ever had to keep your toddler and straights/shavettes separate while traveling in hotels? How did you solve this issue?

This looks very neat! Where did you get that cigar box?

My technique was rather security by obscurity: make sure to hide it somewhere inconspicuous and in a boring environment.

I got it from an online cigar shop here in Switzerland. The Cuba design was on 70% discount, so the price wasn't ridiculous.

Security by obscurity seemed a bit too insecure while travelingπŸ˜…

No Cuba fans anymore among cigar-smoking Swiss?

But I like it!

I literally don't know a single cigar-smoking Swiss person, I must travel in the wrong circles :D

Cuba is a quite popular vacation destination, though, that's the closest I can get to giving an answer

Thinking about it, maybe you could get zip ties to work, though with this particular razor, you could probably slide them off to one side or the other.

That would work for the transit, but would be a bit cumbersome during the day-to-dayπŸ€”

Drill a hole through the razor and use the same lock.
