Religious folks have churches/temples/etc. for regular gatherings, but I'm not aware of what might be similar for secular folks for regular meetups or gatherings (i.e. not profit-driven, etc.).

Community centers & libraries, maybe?

Clubs/societies might have open meetings at libraries. One library I've lived near has a writers' group where they do creative writing exercises and critique each other's writing around twice a month.
