The Dude might work from home, we don't know
He had to be on disability. Work from home didn't exist back then. He didn't have any crafts or artistic gigs going on that we saw that would have been a work from home type of thing.
I feel like I remember he was roadie for Metallica at some point? I might be making that up though. But if he was, he could have gotten hurt and be on a fixed income now.
My uncle was worked from home for over 40 years starting in the mid-80s. It absolutely existed back then, it just wasn't very common.
What did he do?
He was a lawyer for an oil company in Alaska but worked from PA
Definitely not a Dude job.

It ended up being cut but he was supposed to be heir to the rubix cube fortune
