Surrender is a choice
As far as the propaganda goes, it's not
Not when it comes to Russia
You always have choices. Always.
If we assume free will (which I doubt, but let's assume anyway) he could have attempted to
all of which would have prevented this outcome at least. Some of them might have led to him living.
For centuries citizens of various countries hadn't a choice and had to fight russian oppressors except for russians themselves who always comply with all the shit they are told to do. This nation is beyond any rescue.
