In many ways it feels the same to me, in terms of what sites I normally visit. It’s definitely grown a lot in about 10 years time though, and it feels a lot more common than it used to be for someone to be a part of it. Or maybe just more are willing to say they are.
I know it comes with technology but I do miss more traditional hand drawn art. Don’t get me wrong digital art can be amazing but there’s something about traditionally hand drawn that I’ve always liked.
Maybe not entirely related to the topic at hand, but I’ve also been torn on sites like Patreon/SubscribeStar. On one hand it allows many of the artists I follow to be able to support themselves better and be paid for the art and content they create. That’s great! However some use it to paywall a lot of their content and their galleries have since become just advertisements. And that saddens me.
