I could have sworn I once accidentally left a spoon in a casserole I was heating up and it started sparking...

I only ever eat with spoons and I remember it sparking, so they do spark in some microwaves.

Might be a bit pedantic, but I think it's more that some spoons will spark in microwaves. It's the shape of the metal that causes arcs in places the charge can jump between
