Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

all Intel (except the system76) , bleh. I'd rather get a new ryzen laptop. the Lenovo legion 5 is great plus it has a dedicated Nvidia gpu in addition to the igpu. plus from what I've read it works great on Linux, many users have even gotten vfio pass through working for the Nvidia gpu. plus it's only ~800 bucks.

also, purism sucks. I can't imagine why anyone would choose to give that company more money after they've screwed so many people over with their overpriced phone.

edit: still fail to see the advantage to these 'linux' laptops besides vendor support. do they come with Intel ME removed? core/libreboot support? anything I can't find on a normal laptop for less than half the price?
