Its funny because the summer of 2022 Barça wanted to sue De Jong because they said his contract was "illegal" (alongside Busquets, Pique or basically whoever had a big contract).
Also they almost bullied him into accepting the ManUnited offer that summer when ETH joined.
De Jong loves playing for Barcelona but Im pretty sure he doesnt trust this board too much after that.
If I remember correctly their justification for calling it illegal was that it was arranged by Barto. lol
Nah. It was because the renewals happens when it was clear that Bartomeu was no longer going to sit in the seat. So he renewed a lot of players, making bigger problems fall on the lap on the next one in the seat.
He essentially purposedly tried to hurt/damage the club. Which I am pretty sure would be illegal.
They said he tried to harm the club, but it could also be that he was just financially incompetent. I think this is the more likely scenario, personally.
