The French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin, who's the one who accused Benzema of those links, is a known racist, homophobe and islamophobe (he just hates minorities in general and believes they shouldn't exist in France) who was involved in a rape lawsuit (I think the investigations are still ongoing but I'm not sure). He's minister who was in charge for the 2022 UCL final and blamed Liverpool fans for the chaos that ensued and believed they deserved the brutal treatment they received from the police.
