I'm late to this party I know, but...

One thing I miss very much from a different system some years ago, is to be able to specify what type of route you'd like to take. Sometimes you just need to get from A to B, sure, but sometimes, maybe especially when walking or biking, you'd like to avoid some things (e.g. traffic) or to use a route with particular features (flattest, most scenic, etc.).
