My parents were so kind that it was hard for me to understand why people were being so mean to each other, much less things like racism, homophobia, sex shaming, etc.

In spite of that, my siblings and I still managed to fuck things up with things like addiction in my case and the case of my youngest brother, and being a raging abusive asshole in the case of my middle brother. It's helped me a lot though, having the example of my parents to fall back on, though I still have some shortcomings.
