Palestine is the name the people who live there have called it in modern history. During occupation by the Ottomans and the British, it was a continuous population of the same people living there, no matter what it was called. This bullshit about the name and the idea that all Jews have a right to settle there and displace the people already living there just as much as the people already living there have the right to stay in their multigenerational homes is ridiculous. The fact is that the current nation-state of Israel has, since its recent inception, been a consistently violent settler-colonial state. Starting with the Nakba, in which they "declared independence", killed thousands of their Palestinian neighbors, and displaced hundreds of thousands from 78% of the land area of pre-existing Palestine. And this was the goal from the beginning of the Zionist movement in Europe during the 19th century.
