lemmy.ml is down? No problem! lemmygrad.ml is still online! In the Fediverse, the "single point of failure" is the internet itself.

Except that lemmy.ml and lemmygrad.ml are hosted on the same server and in general half of the fediverse is hosted in the Hetzner datacenters in Germany...

That, and one can't take their account to another instance easily. A little pain for some, possibly not something some would entertain, either.

I do wish there was nomadic identity in more fediverse software... but I don't know if there's a standard around that.
